I am getting everything planned out for my 2 week trip to Manila before heading to Cebu & Dumaguete.

Will be staying in Malate across from Robinsons.

How safe is Rizal Park at night?

With all the walking around at night I plan to be doing from Robinsons to MBC to Adriatico etc

I have the feeling my luck is going to run out after all these years of traveling to LA and SEA without getting robbed LOL.

Also, which establishments have the most attractive waitresses?

As of now the main places I plan to hit up are MBC, Cowboy Grill, G-Point, Amazonia, and Insomnia. Am I missing a good place to pickup young attractive girls both FL and waitresses alike?

You should watch your 360 at night especially when it's late and quiet. Don't walk on the sidewalks if you can walk on the street at night. If you are not in the best of health and / or good at making split second decisions, the best decision may be to just take a taxi. I'm very alert when I'm walking but doesn't mean it's full proof. The most likely thing to happen is that some kids in a group will try to pick pocket you if anything were to happen, but there are a lot of poor people around period.

Usually dress in a fitted v-neck t-shirt and some jeans and a ball cap 1/2 the time.

I'll keep around 10 dollars in my pocket and hide the other money I suppose.

Hopefully nothing happens though.

Thanks[/QUOTE]Its not. Stay far away from there. As a non Filipino you will be an obvious target. Park is generally ok in daytime, but know that theres lots of drug users loitering in and around the park.

I think very few DIA gals are actually bar girls, unless you are focusing on AC or Makati. I've met a few, but I've also dated professional women (no not THAT profession).

Some seem to be in it for the money but need to pretent they aren't. It's kind of hard to figure them out sometimes. X.

May I ask your age? If you are a big strong in shape man under 50 and can run like an antlelope, then you'll likely be fine. Sometimes I get a little fearful on the walk back from MBC to my hotel close to Robinson's. OTOH, I have personally never had a problem.

On my last trip to Ermita in May, I stuck mainly to MBC. I did stop by G-point, but it was dead. Amazonia was even more dead. This is my opinion, but I would not waste my time in Amazonia. MBC works for me. The going rate is about 1500 Php for ST, although they will try to get more out of you. I normally tell them 1500 plus a tip if they are good, and I have yet to have one turn that down.

The park is OK during the daytime, there are PnP on bike patrol in the area. I took a nice hour's stroll thru RP 2 weeks ago at 9am. I walk with what one might call a relatively fast, purposeful gate most of the time (good luck keeping up to all those guys selling belts, fake watches, viagra, and anyone else). At 10am I realized I had a noon meeting in Makati, and needed to get back to the hotel in Malate (near Robinsons) and be in a taxi by 11am. I started looking for a taxi going in either direction on Roxas: no luck. Started walking south towards Malate and kept my hand out for a taxi: no luck. Turned up UN drive, then along Del Pilar, keeping up 'the gate', still trying for a morning taxi without passengers: no luck. Passed The Duck Inn and Faura, sweating my ass off: no taxi. Decided to just hoof it back to the hotel. Arrived 21 minutes later in the lobby. If you don't walk fast, make that 30 minutes. I taxi'd to the park from the hotel on advice of the door guys, who said a walk could be as much as an hour (its less obviously).

I think CaliPro is younger and healthy and could do the same thing, but I must suggest not doing that at night. Grab any taxi or jeep going in the direction you want to go. Even if the jeep turns in a different direction, pay the p8, hop out, and grab the next taxi or jeep. Del Pilar / Mabini / Adriatico are not places to be hoofing about late at night unless in the area of Robinsons.

If LA and SEA are in the same sentence, what would you think?

I guess it will ultimately come down to how many people & what kind are there at night. (I am going to go check it out atleast once). As for your question, I am 27 5'10 185lbs. Yea, I went to Amazonia last Feb and it sucked. I won't be paying for any ladies in a FL joint. I mainly go there to drink and game cute waitresses.

What are the biggest liveliest places in Malate? So far my plan is as follows.

Each day schedule 2 different dates with girls I've met online.

Noon Date 11am-3pm . Robinsons Mall (then back to the hotel)

Evening Date 5pm-9pm. Combination of Robinsons Mall, Super Six, and some other cheap preferably open air grill / bar? (Hesitant to bring a date to Cowboy Grill as I want to game the waitresses there) (then back to the hotel)

Night 9pm-11pm. Pre-game at MBC & Cowboy Grill, flirting and gaming cute waitresses.

Late Night 12am-4am. Go out drinking / dancing with either a waitress, online girl, or girl I gave my number to at the mall. Slight possibility of if being a FL that is attractive and won't mind spending time with me without any money obligations. Note I didn't see many if any hot FL's at MBC last time, granted I wasnt looking as I was occupied with a waitress.

I'll be a busy boy! LOL

I am surprised to hear how dangerous it sounds in Malate at night. I like many others am staying across from Robinsons. I expected a popular area like there and where all the clubs are would be relatively safe because of so many people. I expected to walk to and from MBC and the surrounding hot spots at night, no way I wanted to take a cab. Is that to dangerous to do?

What about walking by the bay at night time, is that dangerous also?

I'm big at 6' 1' and 210. I also have boxed and kick boxed since I was 20. I can take care of myself but that is not the point, I do not want to have to. I'm 45 now and am past my can't wait to fight days.

What is it that is so dangerous? Is it being pick pocketed? Robbed by force? Stabbed? Jumped by a group?

Are we to assume they all carry a knife or know Eskrima or Arnis?

Has anyone here been jumped before or robbed?

Malate is not a clubbing area per-se.

If I read my history, that place was catering to sailors docking in Manila bay.

Clubbing proper happens in other places, and now, shifted to Republiq, BGC, and the likes. Malate is what it was years ago.

For me, Malate. That place is teaming with street kids, that's a bad sign and sometimes street kids can become very boisterous. Like happened to me more than once. A kid stops you in your tracks by puffing his chest. What do you do? Assault him and get copped? Or push him and get copped? Or you turn and walk away. I always did the last.

Sometimes kids can surround you and start pilfering your pockets. Never happened to me, but has happened to others, in Manila and AC. So keep less valuables, for a start.

I never been jumped but came to nearly being waylaid. Got off easy. And sometimes due to my local friend. Heck, even the local friends refuse to intervene sometimes.

Malate is a poor area, and gritty. Lots of homeless sleeping on the streets. The appearance is worse than the reality. There is only a small chance of anything happening to you, but why take the chance? A taxi from one part of Malate to another at night will cost $2. Newbs should not make a practice of walking the bario at night.

The most likely problem will be pick-pockets (usually groups of small children working together: you can't cover all of your pockets at once, and you can't hit them). Robbers on the other hand don't work alone, and martial arts are asian sport (you don't stand much chance against 3 guys with knives or guns; just give them what they want).

Reminder: taxis are good.
