You really think a Sosua working girl would know what that is? They only know two ailments or conditions ("gripe" or "loco") and they only know two cures for ailments (antibiotics or mamajuana).
Mi abuelo era un perro y por eso todos los hombres de mi familia ladran a veces, pero es involuntario. Sin embargo, no somos peligrosos y que no muerden. A menos, no mucho.
OK, gang. Posted a question in the Sosua Hotel section a few days ago but no answers, so I'll try here. Anyone stayed at or have comments on the Perla Sosua apartments? I usually stay at Sosua Bay Hotel (mongering section) and have been happy but wondering what these apartments might be like for a few days or a week in late March. Thanks in advance for any comments.
Perla de Sosua is a great spot, around the corner from Banco Popular, down that hill on the left.
Some of the apartments are very basic, and some are newly renovated, the guy that runs it, Brent Lewis is a straight shooter and understands why we visit Sosua.
They have a website with every apartment's pictures and availability. If you email him he responds.
Why post in Spanish on an English speaking forum?
Because this is and example of what you might say to a woman who does not speak English to explain something to her. It would be pointless to post this in English. It is an English speaking forum about a country where Spanish is spoken.

In my opinion its just a courtesy, thanks.

Many of the people who post here only have a rudimentary knowledge of English, and many know a certain amount of Spanish. Personally I just ignore the posts that are written in crackhead slang without punctuation and skip over them. If something is of no interest to you and you can't be bothered to paste it into a translator, then you can just do the same. On the other hand, if you really want to know how to explain in Spanish that you have a neurological disorder, you are going to have to engage with the Spanish language.
Why post in Spanish on an English speaking forum?
Here is a loose translation: My grandfather was a dog, and because of this the men in my family bark at times, but not voluntarily. However, we are not dangerous, and they do not bite. Well, not much.
Frannie's unspoken point is you have to be able to explain things in at least basic Spanish. He makes a good point. Most of the girls that I meet speak little to no English. They may not know what a particular ailment is, but you should be able to tell them you are not crazy. They will laugh.

LOL. The gripe is gripping this winter season...everyone I speak to has it and then some but to cut the Sosua working girl some slack, I still do not know what Tourette syndrome is all about; it must be one of those arcane ailments that afflicts a small number of people making it unusual for ordinary mortals to know of it.
One of my craziest things was seeing the same thing except it was a guy outside of Accra in Ghana. And I swear on my family that his dick was just above his kneecaps. The driver said he probably had a mental problem.
I envy you. I have no practical reason I can think of in this life that projects me in West Africa. Ethiopia and Zanzibar are two other places in the East of that continent too!

One also has to appreciate his very "English" humor and there is no doubt that getting to make the women laugh while trying to explain a complex handicap, is a great way to calm the waves.
To me the more relevant point however is that, while the forum is English, many here speak it "funny" (at least I have some trouble getting my arm around " I would have took" and similar that I see that makes me flinch involuntarily. But I am also a purist in terms of food and language. A pain in the neck, in short!) but I do feel that our learning gets richer when other languages are used. Especially Spanish which is not a giant leap forward compared to say, Papiamento!

Thereis nothing arcane about tourettes. If I was not an alcoholic and did not play a mean bulerias (flamenco. Look it up) I would have prolly snuffed it a long gtime ago. Beleive it or not dealing with tourettes is a fcking pain in the arse. But we live on.

No I did not know the name Tourette though tics are probably as old as humanity but I have not seen people with severe affliction. I would not doubt that it is a "pain" but now that you can do a mean Flamenco, that might actually mitigate the Tourette handicap when you go to the dance bars. Women in the D. R love to dance and grind as well and I am sure you will live on to return (smiley).

Is all good. I was not offended. But just being a bit faceitious. LOL a 2 day hangover will do that to one.
Hello, everybody I am new to this site and I am looking forward to speaking to some of you on this forum.
I am 54 year old married man, overweight and on crutches due to a disability could anybody let me know if my condition will be a problem when I go to sosua, for example will I be able to get quality woman or are they fussy and only pick attractive men? Will I have to pay more than the average guy, will I be able to use my wheelchair for longer jouneys out, are the clubs reasonably accesable, many thanks in anticipation.
