Thanks for the information. Knowing this will help avoid confusion with the bar bill.
In my personal experience, when I buy a lady a drink, it is one of two scenarios: (1) I buy the lady a drink, and she gets a standard drink at the standard price available to any patron. I am literally buying her a drink. (2) I buy her a drink. The price is the same as the standard beverage—but it is watered down (or no alcohol at all).
I'm trying to answer your question although I'm not an expert on the matter.
If the lady frequents a club with a lady drink system she has probably registered for that in some way. She either has a personalized card (like in Insanity, Bangkok) or she gets some kind of slip stating that she is entitled to a kickback from the bar. There might be some other systems of keeping score. In one case I met a lady (a freebie) at another bar and we went to Neptune (now Hong Kong Cafe). I ordered a drink for each of us. Just minutes later I saw her go confer with the waiter and her drink was double the price of mine. I saw some small slips of paper delivered to her with each drink (this was in 2009)..
