Great report Parkinson's. SD has eaten many a veteran monger alive so don't be mad. The key IMO to SD is to cultivate girls through many visits. It's not a cheap project. I bring cheap toys (book bags with school supplies) for the kids. I take the mom for romantic dinners. Maybe even her and the kids to the zoo for a field trip. The mom will usually want a full time relationship, but once she realizes that you are giving her the only time you have available she will just be grateful for the little you do.

I think Mercure used to be a gay hotel. Also some guys like Raizor next to Monolos, it's near all the action and for straight guys.

I stayed at Reina Isabela, $ 32 a night right on El Conde 1 block from Pacos / Grands. The rooms were decent size and very clean. It is chica friendly with a very nice staff.

Hopefully if it wasn't they won't realize how effective and lucrative this scam would be. In the US these decoy operations net local police lot's of cash and are quite systematic and lawful. The advantage in the DR as a money machine would be that everybody gets a taste. The front line cops would get their 1000 pesos but extranjeros that want to bluff would get pulled into the court system and have to pay off higher level folk at higher rates. The fact that prostitution isn't illegal per se hasn't bothered the prosecution much in a lot of other cases and it wouldn't help much here. It's not like there's a right to pick up prostitutes inshrined in the Dominican Constitution. Scandinavian countries are promoting the model of making it illegal to pay but not illegal to receive payment. This kind of law would be both politically correct and bribery nirvana for the Policia.
