Ni disrespect but I'm not buying the Russian argument.
Possibly the down turn in politeness is a direct result of the number of Russians visiting now. I have been to several Russian countries and seen the great rise in numbers in Pattaya, Russians are very rude compared to the UK, USA etc. If the Thais in Pattaya see this on a daily basis they are going to adopt similar attitudes. Some years ago I had a girl friend from Bishkek in Kyrgistan she tried to explain there is no direct equivalent to the word please in Russian.
May the force be with you.
Maybe tourists in general. I remember going form BKK to Phu Ket and being amazed at the difference in the people. I can totally understand being harassed by asshole tourists all day can wear you down. On the other hand giving anyone in another country (their country) the finger can leave you open to an ass whooping. What was he thinking? Oh he wasn't. Nothing good comes of getting shit faced in a foreign country or at home for that matter.
That's life in any tourist city!
Thanks, but if I should answer all those taxi-guys, massage-women and all other scammers, you have to say those words almost 1000 times in a day. That's not why I go for holiday.
Maybe you should get around more. I simple smile and a "no thank you" goes a long way in life and in any country. Coming here twice a year, and just wrapping up my third night, I ha ve never experienced any problems in Pattaya. But then again, I'm not rude and flip the locals off.
Hey, try that shit in El Salvador, they will chop off your head with a fucking machete!
