It was different in Bogota but now
Being mugged is not the end of the world. In Colombia and probably in all Latin America I recommend not taking the latest iphone out of the hotel and just go out with a cheap android phone. Also don't take too much money in cash at once (this one is pretty obvious everywhere in the world I think). Then if you actually get mugged, you do nothing stupid like fighting or arguing, you just hand your trash android phone + the little money you took out from the hotel. No trip should be ruined for that IMO. Of course a different story is getting shot or stabbed, and yes that happens to a lot of Colombians every day. But not in the SF or in the most touristry places. And as I said if you don't fight or argue and just hand all your belongings you should be fine.
But I stand my point about the SF neighborhood. It's extremely safe at least if your worry is getting robbed. Let's put it like this, a lot of Colombian thieves visit the SF often, but when they go there is to spend the loot, they are not "working" there.
A few years back, before Maduro and Covid it was like you say, give up a cheap phone and throw a few Pesos and you can get away from Colombian thieves. Ask anybody familiar with Bogota and it's not Colombians but the very violent Venezuelan gangs, many of the Venezuelans shoot first why rob later. Here is a quote "First they murder and then they steal, we need guarantees for Colombians," said the local president in a statement.
There is a very violent gang of Venezuelan immigrants in Bogota that will not fall for that trick. Listen, I'm not saying SF is another 'EL BRONX" but is not a safe place. I hope your attitude doesn't get you hurt. As far as Woodman goes, he's a great guy and knows SF well in fact I met him in SF years ago and he does a good job. You can go there and have a good time but have a cavalier attitude when there, it can get you in big time trouble. I didn't write this to condemn SF just some information that might help keep some newbies safe.
Visited SF twice, robbed once
I visited SF twice. First time, no issues.
Second time I was robbed by a streetwalker who rifled though my clothes while she was giving me a BJ. I suspected but wasnt sure until after, and damn, with hands that fast she should be a magician.
It was my fault really for being careles.
Compare that with 7 visits to Angles City, robbed once. Also by a stretwalker in my room. Also because I was careless.
So is SF "Safe? Well, you decide.
Another mugging last night
My Novias brother was working in the voting polls yesterday, in Colombia if they solicit you to work the voting in Colombia you need to go or they fine you or worse. So her brother was instructed to go work in Suba, another dangerous area, his last phone was robbed so he was using his mothers phone yesterday to stay in contact with the family. He was very aggressively robbed by 3 guys, Venezuelans, at gun point and he was dressed as a local duh. No Jewelry bla bla bla A street savvy guy 24 yrs old, near the voting area. Then one guy held the gun to his head while the other 2 ripped his pockets open looking for money and stole the phone and a few pesos he had for the transmillenio. Now no phone for him or mommy. He went to a relatives house in Suba to sleep and that was the last I heard.
Listen please. People around, doesn't mean A THING, night time day time none of it is a guarantee you will be safe. Bogota, in general is a very dangerous city now. It was dangerous 10 years ago but exponentially more so in the last 3 years. I use to think it was dangerous to walk around Rua Djalma Ulrich around the corner from Help, in Copa but that was a walk in the park compared to these days in Bogota. Hopefully my experiences in Bogota will keep some guys safe and I'm sure others will thing they know it all and will continue to defy the odds but nobody knows when or where it will happen but it WILL happen sooner or later.
Location of Calle 57 casa
Hey Fudi,
Great info. On chapinero casas. Would you happen to have an exact address on the calle 57 casa? Not on the map. Any other specific recommendations with addresses in the general area besides.
The already mentioned Calle 64 # 15-34 and Tantras?
Diego,
Mtljay kindly posted a wonderful map, a couple of posts after yours. That is a great way to locate the casas.
The one of Calle 57 is called "Rosquillas 57" on that map. The location is very accurate. And don't worry about not finding it. As soon as you get near it, a guy wearing a luminous orange water-proof coat will see you and hand you a little slip, and he'll take you to the door if you maintain eye contact with him. I've just come back from shagging a couple of chicas from there right now.
However. If you want 7+ quality girls, then this is not the right place. They're pretty average looking here, and a couple are even unshaggable. But I like the girl next door types with big asses, and I find them here. Today at 2 pm, there was only 1 other guy apart from me, and only 4 girls. Last Mon at 6 pm, there were 6 girls and 4-5 guys. I guess there is a sweet spot for the timings, after people finish work.
MtlJay - "Do these places look like bars or are they houses?
Good question. All they have a basic dirty looking door. That's it. Nothing else. There are no signs, no neon lights and nothing to indicate what goes on inside. They would be very hard to find if it wasn't for the guys standing at the door saying "chichas?" as you walk past, or handing you a little slip with the address on street corners nearby.
Once inside, the two that I am a regular at, are like a bar. Loud music, porn playing on TV (or a soccer game if one is on), you can just have a beer for 6 K and chill. No pressure to bang, and no sense of feeling at risk or being taken advantage of. I speak practically no Spanish, and I'm the only extranjero in these places, but I feel fine. The staff now recognize me, and give me a fist-pump as I enter.
The number and quality of girls various a lot. Sometimes there's a lot of shaggable ones, and sometimes, very few.
Sadly, I cannot figure out a way to pay the $25 sub for this wonderful forum (coinbase rejects all my credit and debit cards), otherwise I'd be up for PM's and meeting up.
