What could you do for half that? I like clean and safe, but dont need a lot more than that. Could a guy do okay on $1500 a month?
Thanks
I think you could do alot more with $1500 in lima than anyplace in america but I don't think you would be living the life. Do the math....you wouldn't want to spend any less than $500 for an apartment add the food a little nest egg expenses etc. and you don't have alot to play with.
Again better than america but I wouldn't say it would be life changing.
You would be trolling the local brothels be able to get some pfp on a budget level. Your ability to attract non pro action with that amount depends on your situation and social abilities. The question is would your financial situation be appealing enough to attract local girls. ..your apt your spending habits etc.
If possible avoid DHL and FedEx. They charge you on both sides, and many times not just a couple of bucks...plus you get hit with custom's fees. Even when you have stuff sent by mail, you have to go through a bunch of BS to get it out of the post office.
So how would I get something I need delivered to me from the states ? Or are you basically saying it's too much to deal with so I should forget about it?

Thanks for the quick reply, Artisttyp. I have been to Pattaya and stayed 2 months there for pretty cheap. I hope to go to Peru maybe next summer or spring for a short trip.
Thanks again for the help.

The same way we all do (hand carries) using your good friends and family that visits you. As you will be making semi-frequent trips to the USA, go up with two empty suitcases and a carry on. Over the course of one year, I brought down sheets, towels, goose down comforter, kitchen supplies, all my clothes (alot),computer, bulky stereo system plus speakers, cd collection, etc.
I remember one guy on ISG wanted to ship his stuff in a container(I advised against it). He did anyway and had something like 1,000 cd's and had to pay $1.00 tax on each one, when he got home half the cases were empty.
P.S. Polvo could open up a electronics store (with all he has brought in) and probably build the building with all the tools he has!

Horatio,
$4,000 a month is living high class; real nice apt., good restaurants every day and plenty of pussy money. Its like the difference of staying in Eastiny Place and getting your girls on Soi 6 or staying in the Marriott and getting girls from the go-gos on walking street. Nibu lived here on probably around $1,000 a month.

Would you care to touch on the subject about being hitched "not single" in lima. Does that change the perspective on lima ? Do you need to stay single to really enjoy it and will it all come down on you if you screw around too much?
I got the feeling that you are treading a fine line when you screw around too much. I notice other people take notice and place you in a category...tourista preying on low income chicas=lack of respect from locals?
Lima Busy- How do you do it? Your wife is very pretty but do you stray and how often?

Pics
I usually don't publish pics but I think it is only correct this time around. Please be gentlemen and if you see or run across these girls do the right thing and say/do nothing.
These pics are a little piece of my private life. Please treat them as such.
Thanks,

Artisttyp,
If your idea is to have a girl friend, then you will be expected to pretty much hang out with just her. You will also be monitered. Are you worried about not being accepted into Peruvian society because you are seen hanging out with more than one girl? Doesn´t matter, you will never be accepted no matter how you behave.
Basically the saying: "ojos que no ven, corazon que no siente", is the way things work here. Lima is very hipocritical. Every gerente I ever worked with had an amante on the side. But it isn´t talked about. They take the girls to places where they don´t take the wife. Every now and again the amante gets sick of being a "second class citizen" and starts making calls to the wife. Then the shit hits the fan. Anyway, IMHO the best thing to do is butterfly. But that´s just me. I have no desire for a deep LTR with a girl. I imagine that you do.
Cynthia is a cutie.

This is a good response thank you. I guess deep down yes I would like to establish a formal relationship but I question whether I would be able to do so.
I am turning 39 next month(applause) and I have a newfound respect for time. I'd like to think I can make the most of it. I am one of these guys who shouldn't get married..at least that is what people close to me tell me but I don't know if I am cheating myself by not doing it. Sooner or later looks fade you get older and you crave intimacy more than sex.
I don't have alot of experience in the realationship department. Usually they are just one night stands or pfp. This is all very knew to me. I guess there are many different types of realationships/situations to be had.

The major newspaper by far in Peru is called El Comercio. Yesterday´s Sunday paper omitted the "relax" section of the want ads. This has been one of the best sources for chica ads for years, comprising three or so pages. It will be a great loss if this is permanent.

David33's choice of reading material is always entertaining. In this case there is a phrase in the book: "If it flies, floats or fucks, you are better off renting it. "
I would endorse that when it comes to Lima.

If you get tied down you are toast. (I speak from experience.)
And if you stray never, ever, publisize it!! Or you will wake up and find your dick on the pillow. (Anecdotal.)
Remember its only S/.100 to get some punk to machete your ass! (Proven.)
Suerte!

I understand what you are saying and I respect your advice. You know lima way better than I do.
The point I want to make is moving somewhere like lima would be a new beginning ..a new chance at life so to speak. I am asking myself would it be wise to think I can come down there to live going through girl after girl without a long term relationship ? At some point wouldn't I get pegged as "one of those" and then very few girls will want to date you.
I know one thing for sure. If I lived in miraflores and took my girls out for lunch at the same places sooner or later it would come back to haunt me. I already got a taste of that on this trip.
Also people in peru are very kind. I would want to get along with the local people and not have them think I am living there just to use their women.
These are all things to think about. No I don't want kids ..so why get married..etc. etc.
Also will I get killed riding my bike on the costa verde??
I have alot to think about and I need to return to lima more often...time will tell.
* Another thing I would like to know is what do you tell one of these lima girls when you start a relationship (of whatever kind) with them ? You must know they are all looking for a serious thing. Do you find most girls in lima would be satisfied with a non long term situation if it improved their current situation..... if only for awhile?
Then how much "bad blood" would you cause to yourself by all these short term flings. I believe you when you say 100 soles can get you whacked. I've done alot more for alot less in lima.

This is a two part question that is in Doc Bill's purview, but I will attemt to answer it.
I understand where you are coming from and most of us living here felt the same way. As many have said there are a lot of better cities to live but none of them have the “Lima Vibe”! I have many buddies who travel around the world at will and always come back to Lima. If I did not know better, I would say there was something in the water.....err, scratch that thought as there are many things in water!
In the “bar scene” you will run into that problem if you frequent the same places night in and night out.
Example (Ian & Butch) and eventually you get ostracized. In the online world there are many more women from all over Lima and it is less of a problem (most of the time). On occasion you will be sitting at a table in Z on your first date and you will hear snickering from the corner table (sometime the women are playaz as well)! These are the same one's who do not show up for dates/bring an entourage when they do etc.etc.
The general rule is never bring an online date to the places you normally frequent and it is better to hang with her outside of MF unless you are in your apartment. Which adresses your next point.
I know one thing for sure. If I lived in miraflores and took my girls out for lunch at the same places sooner or later it would come back to haunt me. I already got a taste of that on this trip.
Also, never date girls from restuarants, cafes, bars you frequent!

Yes and maybe robbed after. Ride your bike along the Malecon up top between San Isidro and Chorillos

Basically, some girls wish to fall in love and others (younger ones generally) use you for sex/revenge sex . If a girl is a good girl (ie. Mahu type- for the Lima crowd) you become friends and never “hit it”, but still have someone to go out to the movies/museums/dinner with. If she is a “bad girl” pound it till the cow's come home and thank God your living in Lima and “feeling that Lima Vibe”.
