It might sound paranoid, but I was drugged and robbed once by a Thai girl, and I thought it could never happen to me (expat, speaking decent Thai, here for a few years, a non-drinker). Apparently, she put something on a snack from 7-11, rather than a drink, quite a pro. Wasn't even a bargirl / freelancer, but seemingly a good girl (pick up from KSR, went for dancing and dinner with a friend then ended up at my place).

Unless I really know her, I hide my shit very well in the room and don't much take my eye off them.
I don't wear any jewelry and just keep cash only in my pocket. If I take her back to the room for the night, I put the cash and phone in the safe.
Once we hit the sack, there is nothing they can take. But it is possible I might wake up without a kidney or liver some morning.
Unless I really know her, I hide my shit very well in the room and don't much take my eye off them.
Then it is of no use to hide it in the first place.
That is like the "Watch out for pick-pockets" sign on the street. The Police actually had to remove the sign because almost everyone who saw that sign touched their money as by reflex to check it was not (yet) stolen. Trained pick-pockets thus knew exactly where you had put your money and it was too easy for them to lift it from you.
Don't hide your money and valuables: keep'them in the safe and enjoy the sex without worries.

Sadly, she has a history of doing this, see this 2007 article, scary she's been doing this for at least 4 years. How many victims?
So, one bad apple among literally tens of thousands of sex-workers. You are more likely to be hit by a car when crossing the street (even more so when drunk) , being asked to pay a fine for an imaginary offence by a police officer or being swindled by a gem-dealer.

Therefore you must also agree that you are more likely to have a bad apple drug you than winning the lottery. You only live once and it's sad if someone else's action shorten your life. I get it and your point. I once read " if you sleep with the dogs, you will catch flees."
. "Watch out for pick-pockets" sign on the street.
I got my pocket picked on one of the Baht Buses, around 4 years ago.
I think it was a grandmother / granddaughter team. The older got on first and sat on one side of me while the younger one followed her and bumped into me while sitting. She offered an apology. I think when I was distracted by the bump, grandma slipped her hand into my pocket. They got off before me. I didn't realize the theft, until I got off to buy some food. I lost roughly 1000 baht and learned my lesson. Now I sit at the end of the bus, with my money pocket out of reach.
Therefore you must also agree that you are more likely to have a bad apple drug you than winning the lottery.
Of course. The odds to win the first prize in the EuroMillions lottery is less than randomly punching some numbers in your phone and getting the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party on the line. It is a proven scientific fact that the human brain is not wired to clearly weigh risks and odds. It must give us some evolutionary advantage, but I fail to see it yet. Only casinos and lotteries seem to benefit.
