The Kota Indah bars are basically after working hours pubs with goldfish bowls thrown in. You get all walks of life in these bars though everyone is fairly modest about their backgrounds which flips on it's head many longtimers impressions of young asians.

They have a weird "don't by me drink" policy with the girls. The girls refuse to take a drink if you offer it to them, if you push they will take something like a Guinness at the bar. The drink always seems to gets added to someone else's bill as I never get them added. Maybe the girls take the hit.

They do specialise in niave "fresh" girls if that is your preference, invariably two or three weeks before some of these girls were working in your local indomaret or chinese restaurant which makes for interesting conversation if you want to pan out your hours room booking.

Surprisingly you can get to Kota Indah bars very quickly during the rush hours as they are short walk from Jayakarta LRT station and it's only a 15-20 minute zip up the line from Gondangdia, Cikini & Manggarai (South Jakarta)

Starmoon and likely others in Kota Indah opens at 3 pm is good for afternoon sex. I actually prefer experienced rather than naive fresh girls for better services.

I am currently reading the forum. Seem like Alexis and Malioboro are the prime places to go, which only seem a little more expensive then the other venues, but worth it to many.

However, I did have some questions:

1. Does this place Illegals really have fantasy themed rooms? I haven't read about that anywhere else, and its not on their website. But if so, this would definitely be worth checking out.

2. Hotel Classic. I am getting confused about the terminology everyone is using around Hotel Classic. Is there a Hotel Classic 1 and 2, meaning different venues? Or are you referring to the floors? Does Terminal refer to the club inside Hotel Classic? Is this the same as Classic Hotel on JI Samanhudi?

3. Some great analyses of both Alexis and Malioboro. Is there a best time of day/night to go to these places? Or are there always plenty enough ladies to talk to? Feel free to comment on any differences or preferences between the two -- in case I had to choose.

4. Last, completely unrelated question. Is there a good street market where I can pick up some cheap / fake sneakers, like Converse Chuck Taylors, Adidas Superstars and Stan Smiths? I have heard of ITC mall as one place in North Jakarta. I bought 4 pars of Chuck taylors for $8 each in Kalibo PI a few years ago, and wish that I had bought more!

Some pubs have pool tables, some have dart boards. It just so happens that the Kota Indah bars have cages of girls. It's a bit of a sideshow. Really can't see these bars being under anyone's political radar especially as they are well-managed by Laskar Merah Putih.

The funny story I heard is that the Antik Disco is trying to claim some heritage status from the city council as it's been satisfying the local population's itches since the Batavia era.

I guess if someone (and this does happen) is foolish enough to start a gambling house it wouldn't be tolerated. Drugs is another issue which doesn't help. But these problems are metropolitan wide and can't be pinpointed to a back-water like Kota Indah / Tamansari.
