Downtown Inn hotel Chiang Mai
Anyone stay at Downtown Inn hotel?
They charge extra for overnight quest?
Thanx
"the later it gets the better they look"
I find the old saying to be so true. We farang are too impatient to search and seek out what we really are looking for. Rather, we jump to quick later justifying ourselves with a positive critique. I have tried and tried to enjoy a few beers relax and take my time. If I follow my own rules usually another Miss Thailand will cross my path. Really, how long does it take? In a land where there are so many gorgeous women all with a smile and willing to please.
Opps there goes another one... got to go now...
As a public service I can confirm that there is still a *****house or two operating on the soi off Nimanhemin Road. Previous directions in this thread from a few years back are spot on. The weird thing is that just around the corner is modern, stylish Chiang Mai, trendy bars, happy young Thai people. But enter the *****house and you're transported to a dingy twilight zone where time has stood still for a decade or two. There were three or four girls sitting around. Just as many soi dogs, equally at home. While I was having a beer, customers (young Thai guys) arrived, chatted, and went off with them into the back rooms. (Not with the dog dogs, of course.)
A stocky woman in her late thirties pounced on me and forcibly brought home to me what it feels like for a girl being pawed without regard to personal boundaries, by an uncouth pushy smoker with hard hands. You should all try this, for the sake of empathy. I tried my best to act the part, like a coyote girl who is disgusted and wants to keep her distance, but doesn't want to offend the customer.
I would rather wash floors than see any of these women naked.
After that I walked off in the direction of Santitham Road. I was just off Huay Kaew Road on some dark soi when someone on a motocy called me. It was the ***** who had been pawing me, hailing me like a long-lost friend! She gave me a lift to Santitham, she lives in a place on one of the side sois. She offered me longtime for 500 baht. Thanks but no thanks.
Santitham was the most Thai-feeling area that I've been to in Chiang Mai. I walked to the end of the lit part of the road and took a soi on the left. There's a quite a complex of trendy, clean, well-lit bars with more young Thais enjoying a wholesome good time. On the way back on the next soi down, looking back, I spotted the famiiar fairylights of loso entertainment. Turns out to be 99 Karaoke. Looks like the karaokes in Chiang Mai are all numbered.
I was greeted by almost complete indifference. After a few minutes a mamasan came to sell me a beer. There were about 15 free girls sitting around, another 5 or 6 seated with customers, and more coming and going, but no one looked in my direction. After about half a slow beer, a young papasan finally came up to chat, visibly relieved that I could stumble along in Thai, and we organized a shorttime within a minute or two. I don't think they're really unfriendly, they just don't want to be bothered with some inarticulate farang. Maybe they had bad experiences with farangs before.
I was OK with the puying he brought, petite and polite, 21 years old. Price was 1200 including room and 5 minute motocy ride to and fro the drive-in hotel, which is probably about double what it should be. But service was pitiful. Not unfriendly, but I really felt pity for the hapless little single mother doing her best so earnestly and awkwardly.
A 500 baht night with the old girl would probably have been pure gold for a monger without my silly fixation on youth and the transient illusion of beauty.
