I have long yearned to go to the Philippines, and now the chance for a 10-day trip is coming up. The draw-back is that I will be accompanied by a colleague for the first half of the trip. You said you are in the Mandaluyong / Ugong Norte area. Ugong is actually a barangay situated in the city of Pasig. Mandaluyong is another city amongst the greater Metro Manila area. I guess you are staying close to the Ortigas Center area (where I hang my hat) which is situated on the border of Mandaluyong City, Pasig City and Quezon City.

In Manila we tend to measure distances by TIME, so when you said you are about 11 km east of Ermita that is not terribly meaningful because it could take you anything from 30 minutes to a bit over an hour to get to Ermita from Ortigas, depending on the time of day. If you are stretched for time, then a journey to that side of town would best be made later in the evening at around 10 pm. Makati (Burgos Street or Greenbelt) will also take around 45 mins between 6pm and 8 pm, and less than 45 mins as it gets later.

Most of the Craigs List or other in-call places found in tourist pamphlets will say they are willing to service Makati, Pasay, Ortigas areas; others will say Ortigas / Quezon City; still others will say anywhere in Metro Manila. If you meet anyone outside your hotel, then there are a number of ST hotels around the area but you will need to rely on either the girl or the taxi driver knowing where to go as it is difficult to give directions here.
