now the whole picture fits ! here was the rusty bestard - ala sancho panza - perhaps i should also declare that am older than 43 (not that it matters as the senior member in my household is 73 and he is looking forward to his next visit and hopes that 1ball can educate him in the process !) - coming for a daytrip to bangkok and where better to have the first coffee of the day than livingstones.
now i had thought that the frosty air in the lodge was due to the stock market taking a pounding - now having read the charitable threads below i realise that the wry smiles were dedicated to our anitpodean cousin.
my only report of the days proceedings was that whilst the rust has been removed from the pool i fear that a large dose of hydrochloric acid will not work in my case. i did suggest to giotto that next time an visitor offended the house that hydrochloric acid would work wonders on their disposition or is it disposal.
so following the coffee and meeting with a sweet young thing you would have thought that a visit to peep inn was going to be in order. alas it was not to be and am considering requesting a downgrade in my status from jackson (kidding). try lunch, paragon for a movie - as expensive as london but the service was superb and those reclining seats and blankets were superb - only complaint why not make it a single reclining seat for couples or would that be asking too much.
from that debacle onto swensens for ice-cream - at this point i would kindly request the earnest member from uae and the member from bali to raise themselves from the floor for laughing - and back to the airport !! a peck on the cheek and i was despatched with the sword to retreat once more to kl.
please i beg the senior bestards to take pity on this rusty oik from the boondocks of singlishdom and assist in my re-education as quickly as possible before the member from the west country all 73 years of him returns in order to heap more calumny upon my already besmirched name - i do not dare use the word reputation here as it would merely add to the heaps of laughter.

Have stayed at the Lodge three times and been more than satisfied with the place and service each time. No reason to use the Lodge over any other place on or around Suk except that it fits with what I want from a hotel.
Anyway, thought I'd bite on Pete's challenge and search the hotel review sites. Found four of 5 sites that had different reviews (some reviews repeated on some sites). You know what, the reviews ranged from 2.5 out of 5 to 5 out of 5. No bad "I'll never stay there again" reviews found.
Just my sycophantic tuppence worth.

Wrong. The bottle is always 29 Baht (For Tiger, I don't know about Heineken, maybe 35) and the extra goes for the chair. It all depends how much the chair is worth for you.
In the case of the girls the quality mostly doesn't go up with the price. It's hit and miss in any price range. And it all depends what you are looking for.

Oh yes, the Swimming Pool. We are completely renovating it right now, I made some pictures about the progress. I was shocked about the rust on the tiles we discovered when the water was out of the pool. A few more days, and we will have a real Swimming Pool up and running again.
