Great report, thanks. Question: Where are these? AC, Nana, Dolly, Gaylang, Mayorista and Santa Fe? I only heard about Tijuana and Pattaya, and been to VM once.
AC = Angeles City, Philippines.
Nana= Nana Plaza, Bangkok, Thailand.
To the OP, Rio 'died' in the mid 2000's. AC, Nana are still alive and kicking in comparison.
Wow! Thanks for the great and detailed advice!
Just a couple of questions.
1. Are the airport lockers safe? I was just going to check my luggage in. Are there lockers at the termas, and are they secure?
2. Of the three stops that you gave me to get off the bus to catch a cab, which do you recommend? Which is closest?
3. Upon returning to the airport, how much time will I need to get back in past security, assuming that I have my boarding pass already.
Thanks in advance Rico!
1. Try to check in, if not then the lockers are safe. DO NOT TAKE YOU LUGGAGE TO THE TERMA!
2. The one RockTime said is good, but get a taxi since you are not familiar with the area, the driver will now where is Rua Buenos Aires 44.
3. The recommended time for domestic flight is 1 hour. I'd leave the terma 2 hours before your flight.
I would stop at the corner of Rio Branco and Presidente Vargas.
If daytime, you can walk to 4X4, number 44 Rua Buenos Aires. It opens at 200PM till midnite but girls arrive in droves after 400pm. You can still grab a few girls before departure.
Use a GPS.
Your flight is domestic, beware GIG has 2 terminal, make sure you get to the right terminal, I would arrive at least 1 hour before domestic flight.
The luggage consign I know is at the terminal 2, very secure, costs 15 reais for 24 hour rent.
Your stop is too brief for more fun, I would suggest you do Rio on the way back, more time, more fun, don't let rush destroys it. Beware, Rio is the relaxing capital of the world.
Welcome to Rio.
Thanks for the feedback RockTimes!
Hmm, to make it back for a 5:30 flight, I would have to leave the terma by abour 2:30 to be safe. I didn't think to check the opening times of the termas. I just assumed that they were like FKK's, and opened at about 11 am. Anything in Centro open a little earlier? The only other thing I would think of is Bel Prazer or another massage place, but that doesn't seem like the type of place that I can "hang out" in for an extended period of time.
Thanks!

thanks!
termas in centro do not open on saturday and sunday. i doubt any open before 200pm. and if it does, very few girls to choose from. i am not an expert in other options.
to get back to airport, i would recommend the taxi since traffic is very bad for bus to sneak through, especially on bus route. the bus stop is at praca pios x, walkable, but in reality, bus usually speeds thru unless some one wants to descend. welcome to brazil! the other option is to walk or take short taxi, to airport santos dumont about 2 miles away and board the bus there because the bus terminal is there, the number bus is 2145. taxi, with good traffic takes 30 minutes at most to galeon international.

Mainstream Termas like 4 x 4, MC, Centaurus, T65 etc are totally dead untill 430/5pm-don't bother.
Remember most people get off work at 5pm hence the 430pm shift start for most chicas.
The average joe Brazil going to nasty-ass venues like 119, 502, T31 etc also get off work like 5 ND MAKE A BEE-LINE to these spots before going home to wifey-"oi gata there was so much traffic today!"kkkkkk
Termas America? Is that a new termas?
I wouldn't disrespect other termas by calling it that but then again 119 is a terma but a nasty one. No its not new-more of a boate with take-away close to Florida.
See my post in the crime and safety thread.
See my post in the crime and safety thread.
I suggest everyone keep multiple cards with them. Have one dedicated to emergencies. Don't use it at all. It's only use should be in emergency. Personally I very rarely use cards in Brazil accept at ATMs. I have a check card dedicated to international travel. The card is not linked to my other accounts with the same bank. I only keep about 20 bucks in the account. If and when I need cash I transfer the amount I need into that account. I then go immediately to the ATM and take the money out. That way if it's cloned the most they can get is $20 and my bank will most likely notify me of fraud. I never use any of my other check cards in Brazil and like I said I keep at least one credit card on me as well for an emergency.

I personally take cash with me and put it in electronic safe and bring out what I feel I need and have credit cards and debit cards in safe as back up.
Better to lose a days worth of cash rather than the cloning scenario!
