I ask one what he thought about me walking around the area at this time alone. He told me that it would be safe in the two block area (which is well lit, and heavily patrolled.
That being said, I feel confident if you stay sober and put your safety first and foremost, that you can enjoy yourself here, even alone.
I totally agree with fantasy on the safety, I spent 4 nights by myself, totally gringo looking, but confident and walking like I knew where I was going and I felt safe.
Can anyone make recomondations similer to what one can find in the buenos aires forum as to 4 or 5 top places to visit.... but this last report about el castillo sounds great but I'm not sure how safe it is to walk around there.
Your help is appriciated.
I would go for santa fe red light district, take a cab to el castillo, walk around in that area, try piscina and some of the other clubs as there are all withing 1-3 minute walking distance and they have no cover you can just go in and check out the talent and just go to the next club if you don't like.
One other quick question:
When is the best time to visit these places at Santa Fe?
When is there the best selction and best vibe?
Best Selection: 8-10PM
Best Vibe: 11-12PM on weekends (real party feeling)
In regards to Bogota Mongering, I have never seen anything like the "Red Light District" Here. Location after location is loaded with hot talent. And soo freakin cheap!
This is without a doubt, the "Bangkok", of this Hemisphere.
TOTALL AGREE with Fantasy, I have been to Rio, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Madrid, Barcelona, Panama City Germany; which all gets a lot of attention......and Bogotas red light district is the best mongering area in my oppinion. the combination of:
Good looking, sexy girls
Girls that ENJOY sex
Low cost (of clubs, drinks, girls and the city in general)
Number of clubs in one area
Makes it the winner for me
Can someone with a knowledge of Bogota can tell me where the area:
Forests Of San Carlos / Bosques de San Carlos
is located & what the area is like in safety & attractions etc.
Many Thanks,
Liathain
Where is a good place to wait for someone inside the airport. I mean some kinda place where everyone regonizes without any complications? That is the international wing.
Thanks in advance

I don't know what was deleted here, but it would be dishonest and even downright dangerous to not allow folks to point out that Bogota is not the safest city in the world, and that Santa Fe is not the safest part of that city. Not saying "don't go" -- though I would never go there unescorted -- but for god's sake keep your wits about ya.

Thanks in advance
There's no arrival's hall: just a mass of folks waiting outside. Not a great place to meet, but the only option if the arivee has a lot of luggage. If not, you could wait upstairs in departures in the restaurant area. There's a MuckDs there, though respect your body and wait on the tables outside it and eat somewhere else: the Asian place is always a good bet for good, cheap food.

Thanks in advance
The best airport meeting spot would be just as you come out of the El Dorado International Arrivals Terminal. You will have cleared customs & immigration and then you go past the money changing area. These is a glass wall of windows you pass through and you are now directly outside the terminal where everyone waits for those who are clearing International Arrivals. I have met up with a friend there previously.
It is the first place that the arriving passenger will actually pass out of the terminal and you will have the chance to meet up with someone. From there you can catch a taxi to town or to the domestic terminal: Puente Aereo Terminal.
Meeting point at Bogota El Dorado airport.
Maybe the taxi dispatch booth. It's just after you clear baggage claim. It's outside, which could be inconvenient if it's cold or raining. But it's a surefire place to meet.
The alternative is to pick a particular shop inside the terminal (eg in front of the Juan Valdez cafe). The only problem is that sometimes they check tickets and your friend(s) may not be permitted inside the terminal. It would probably be OK.. just something to keep in mind.
The cabs thing IS a real concern, but most of the time that sort of thing happens in the rich areas, the Zona Rosa and the Parque 93 areas specifically, and in general between Circunvalar and Autopista Norte and 72 to 100 streets.
I'd think it would be common sense NOT to take a cab just waiting outside a club anywhere on planet Earth. Bogota is not the safest NOR the most dangerous city that exists, it's somewhere in the middle IMO.

I will go upstairs and wait at McD's.
