Thursday night (TYPICAL NIGHT OUT)
as its a point of interest be advised the bars will be closed sunday night and will reopen monday 7pm. national holiday so get those mobile numbers now gentlemen....
always bittersweet: the day off but nowhere to enjoy it, so it is important to have some avenues for home entertainment.
============================
some punters might think we are an unfriendly lot here. well, we are. dubai is already too overcrowded - don't come; go elsewhere.
but, if you still come, perhaps some are taking the scene from their home countries, or familiar playgrounds, and trying to apply it to here. you can't. not saying dxb is unique; it's not. just take at face value the reports you read. even discount the "old hands" reports - check out what newbies who have been here have reported.
you could program the function keys on your computer for the standard report, giving the actual possibilities:
went to [insert bar name here], saw a number of attractive wgs, talked to several, struck a deal for [amount] [dhs|usd] for [st|lt], went back to [my|her] place, and enjoyed.
is it that easy? yes, it is.
thursday
rattlesnake, 9:15 - 10:45
one of many reasons i dislike the 'snake readily obvious as i approached the front door. number of prc's sitting outside as they were denied entrance (before a certain hour). like sitting in an oven. approached by one i knew (in the biblical sense), asking if i'd escort her in. no problem. in fact, no one at the door, so she slid in sans entrance fee. f*ck you rattlesnake.
inside, very sparse at that hour. 5, 6 africans - no appeal for me as each probably equalled my body weight (not a pretty sight, let me tell you). couple of cis. over the next 45 minutes, like a "fast action, speeded up film strip", the bar filled. along about 9:30, looks like the prc's were let in (well, some, at least). typical of the 'snakes disorganization, no one at the stand to collect their fees, so a bouncer had to round up the stampeding herd, wrangle them back to the door to pay.
hooked up with eric from ksa. at the early hour, easy. once intro's made, discussed life in general, and dxb in particular. as band had started, conversation a bit difficult. so, to solve the problem, headed to seaview.
note: another reason i dislike the rattlesnake is its inconsistency; reminds me of afternoon tgit. last thursday, early, plenty of ladies that i would have had no problem taking home. this night... sparse. some, but not the choice from the last couple of thursdays. but it was early... and if i had wanted to pull then, there were several candidates...
seaview, 11:00 - 1:00
yea, the seaview sound system so conducive for conversations... very crowded... literally had to phone barcrawler to find out where he was. the usual seeminly unfavorable m/f ratio, but a number there for the band. band rocking, as usual. number of familiar faces, some stopping for job interviews...
miss "wait for me - not" there, looking for an interview, but this time, it was i who was not interested, having made up my mind to recall the ex miss thursday for a friday, and needing a day's recuperation from miss wed. take my advice, gentlemen, don't get old. confused another for miss 600 from the previous night - just goes to show, it's also the eyesight that goes with age - they do begin to look the same. this girl, another time, for sure.
but the best target of the night was only glimpsed for no more than 4 minutes out on the dance floor. whichever punter was with the kirgie in the white mini and knee high boots... i salute you. if i had seen her unaccompanied, i would have changed my plans for sure. curiously, a group of 3, 4 prc's - night out? working night out? don't know, but, for sure, one is attached. the group, slightly older, still very attractive. again, another night, would have pursued if i'd had more energy.
i took off at 1am, leaving eric to his fate, needing my sleep. reminded why i don't like going out on thursdays. but if i had wanted to have some company, easily several who would have made the cut.
point is, these are minor venues... but no trouble finding candidates for some in-depth, probing interviews. if this old man can do it, so can you. it really is as easy as walking in a bar, looking around, striking up some conversations, finding someone you find attractive, cutting a deal, then off for some private entertainment.
