Some country passports are exempt. Israel or South Korea for example. So the check is to "insure" an exempt person is not paying.
Anyone born in the Dominican Republic, whatever passport they hold, is exempt from paying the tourist visa fee. That is another reason the agents check passports. Passports show the birthplace.

Tuesday nights are Latin Dance Nights at the Hard Rock Cafe at the Blue Mall in Santo Domingo. Live band. Free admission. I haven't been there so I can't vouch for it. After I attend I'll post an update.

2 planes landed at the same time so paying the 10 dollars took a long time plus the guy needed exact change. One guy working 250 people in line do the math. On the bright side there is a Bank Reserve next to the place to pay the entry fee. 45.7 is the going rate not bad. I get the cash and head for the Claro store for minutes on my phone. I roll upstairs to look for the GUA GUA. I did not see it for about 10 minutes which seemed like an hour. Waiting with patience is the lesson I would learn this day. I paid the American price 150 pesos plus 200 for cab in SD. This beats the hell out of $35 the cab drivers want.
I get to Santo Domingo 25 minutes later catch a cab to Casa Conde. They have my reservation but the room has no refrigerator which is a requirement. The rooms at casa Conde lovely but small. They ship me off to Conde Boutique 6 blocks away which is a mile when you are anxious "patience ". Once there sweating from the walk a very pretty chica checks me in. Room is a suite for 50 bucks really pretty with full kitchen but no working TV channels and internet took a while, patience this is the DR.
Being the greedy monger that I am I pushed back my 1st day chica to Thursday and arranged for the famous little sister to come from Cotui. Her phone was not working and we did not have a solid hook up plan only see you at Pacos after 5. It is now 7 and chicas at Pacos are banging on me. I am getting worried she is a no show " DR Life" 7:50 I get a message on way in cab. Yaaaaa. I have never seen a person online to buy card be told they didn't need it. I have however seen 40% of those on line for immigration being told they need to go back and buy tourist card. Clusterfuck.
Actually, the website where you can buy tourist visas displays the name and flag of countries (Ecuador, Japan, Uruguay, etc.) whose citizens are exempt from the tourist visa requirement. In fact, you see that information at the very top of the page where you enter information to buy the visa.

Day 2 starts by saying good bye to little sister. I have 2 Dominican friends I needed to see. Girl 2 was coming from San Pedro at 12. She is the only Dominiacan girl to ever come on time. Excellent location 1 block from Pacos / Grands right on El Conde. 2nd is casa conde. 40 A night rooms are small but has everything new and is located same block as Pacos. If you are on a budget you will like both and Casa Conde comes with breakfast. Pro or non pro is irrelevant. We are not looking for wives but women to share some good moments with. Enjoy your vacation and let us know how things go.

[/QUOTE]I've been using Wet Platinum Lube since '09 (see photo attached). It's silicon-based rather than water-based. No other lube can touch it in my opinion. And you don't have to keep applying it every 5 seconds like KY and others.
You can find it at Walmart, Target, etc.

The Woman version is thinner so you have more sensation than the normal silicone lubes.

Yesterday I was able to walk from there to the Caribbean station to catch a bus to La Vega for the carnival.
