East China - Shanghai

Problem with airbnb is some places are hard to find and pictures can be deceiving sometimes. Some are not as big as it appears or not as clean and beds are obviously not the hotel quality. Another big issue is since it doesn't tell you exactly where the location is you can end up in a very inconvenient place, thin walls or a lot of neighbors. In my experience it is better to book a larger apartment or house as smaller apartments you'll be able to hear the neighbors and they will of course be able to hear you.

Most the time you will only meet the host when you arrive if the place is hard to find or you need to get a key.

I notice that many places are offered by 3rd party service providers. For example, when I did some searching, I found that there was a service provider who was renting rooms on behalf of about 20 room / apt / home owners.
