The Gentleman's clubs are opening up
I was at Wanchai today and saw the familiar heavy red curtains of a gentleman's club. San Francisco is open for business.
I've never been inside, from the (admittedly) little I know, it's a money sink, but it's nice to see the drought beginning to recede.
Cheers!
Fallout from the Police official caught in a massage parlor
Still not sure exactly how that whole thing went down, but that guy must have really pissed somebody off for this to become a "thing" OR someone way up the food chain needed to make a big splash for someone even further up the food chain.
Anyway, I have been visiting a legit shop in Central for years, never received more than a nice massage and a VERY occasional "the feiji", found out it was raided last week. In fact it was one of two in the same building that was raided. It appears they are shut down or their services have been severely curtailed, like no oil massage at all and only neck and shoulders and feet. I don't have all the details because the Manager doesn't want to discuss the issue, only let me know that they could not accept full body oil massage requests "at this time". I am a little concerned because I buy a "VIP package" which gives me a 20% discount and I still have a bit of cash on account. She did tell me to come and get a good foot massage, but I have declined so far. Rumor has it there is an ongoing dispute with the other shop over one "poaching" customers off the elevator, so who knows what's really going on. I was told by some of the ladies that a few, some, a number of shops have been raided and then closed because the were providing services not allowed by their biz lic. , like massage when it was supposed to be facials only, etc.
Unless you classify an occasional handy as "sex trade" this doesn't seem to be the driving force. Interesting times.
