These points are what really useful for newbies in Shanghai 2018.
*First*.
Since 2014, China government had processed a huge Clean-up regarding to the prostitution industry in the city of famous Dongguan, Guangdong province. 95% of business of the Saunas, bars, saloons, streetwalkers has shut downs, which lead all the related sex workers come to other citys. Eventually Shanghai has replaced Dongguan as the new sex center of all the country since 2015.
It was a happy time for guys like you, and guys used to find 50 rmb-quickie, 250 rmb-sauna, 600 rmb-real-college-student. But it all changed in late 2017, cause the President Xi Jingping started to say NO to the corruption. Then half of the government top officers has been dismissed, which also removed the protect umberaller of Shanghai's sex industry. So guys are not happy since then, and even the local guys are harder to find a spot. Saunas are only getting more expensive now, Salloons are only offering BJ. Also the most important thing is guys are more likely to get caught in action by a sudden police strike in Hotel or bath-house. It cost more money and more lawful expense, while the gals are being found more aged and ugly. And this situation will last at least 2 year.

While the environment are getting worse, those sauna girls bar girls had to change their ways. A large percentage of them choose to leave the boss and start their new business as an independent. They rent a apartment with their colleagues and post their ad thru QQ or Wechat, and they are more willing to do business with their old clients (its more safe). So a no-Chinese-speaking foreigner guy are more difficult to find a real gal on Wechat or QQ, if you eventually find a girl thru Wechat, you always care about maybe this is a scam. Many wechat girls says they are real college student so they are clean and ask for high price, but its not true, it more likely to be that she is a mature full time sex-worker. Another thing is you may find a girl thru wechat, the girls shows her pics to you, the pics are always much PSed, or even total fake; and you guys make a deal, and she ask you 50 RMB for take a taxi to go to you, please remember this is always a fraud (ignore this if you know her very well). My law is No Seek. No Pay, never drop a dime until you see the real person, and remember, honest girls never f*ck for money.
*Third*.
Don't let them take your easy money, today's market is this: 100 rmb for a streetwalker quickie (but I doubt you can find one); 300-500 rmb for gong to her place for a shot within 1 HR, 500-800 rmb for two shots within 2 HR. 1500-3000 rmb for whole night, some sauna still open but it charges like 800-2000 rmb for 90 min. Do not pay more than this no matter how hungry you are, no matter how nice she is, or you are affecting the market and be the enemy of us all. The best way for you is, go hunt with your Chinese friend if you have one, go hunt with a veteran.

Manhatten Thursday night.
Arrived in Shanghai Saturday the 10th, everything was closed up tight. Both Judy's (with police out front) and Manhattens closed. Some guys on motorcycles cruising around saying all closed. Take you to a Lady's Bar. Did not try.
It is true! Manhatten is open for business again. Got there around midnight Thursday night & it was packed with both guys & gals. Great selection and seemed to be activity for the girls. Many said they came in on Thursday, but don't know when Manhattan officially re-opened. Only downside was the price. Many girls asking for 1500 for short time. Eventually, stopped asking & offered 1000 for short time and got my first choice. She was energetic, GFE like, solid 2 hours with everything on the menu.
Seems like my favorite hotel has gotten tighter on security. I have been staying the first night and last night in country at Paramount Gallery hotel for the past 4 years when I come to Shanghai. Great location (walking to Judy's & Manhatten, close to Metro and restaurants, easy access to the airport), and until last April, you came in thru an unattended lobby (at the back of the hotel) and up to your room floor, no need to go past reception on the 12th floor. In April, that changed. They appear to have a 'monitoring room' and have stationed a security guard at the back door. He calls to the front desk whenever anyone brings in what looks like a guest. They then will call the room, asking you to register your guest. Not a cumbersome process, but a new one. The process was repeated again Thursday night. So, girl friendly, just not as girl friendly as it once was.
Anyone have a local hotel where you can avoid registration?
