I believe it's quite difficult for a Thai lady to get divorced from a legal certificate marriage, unless the husband agrees to it and is willing to sign the papers. This sometimes costs money. I. e. The husband wants a certain amount of money to sign. Is a common blackmail method. My GF was once in this situation. She had run away from her abusive husband long ago, effectively disappearing from him, but was not divorced. Somehow he notified someone in her family that he needed money for a parent's hospital costs and was willing to agree to divorce and legally give away child custody in exchange for a sum. It was very important that he not find out about me (a Farang). If so, divorce cost could suddenly have escalated badly.

And that's the problem with such a survey. When you look for the right circumstances to ask women, then you end up talking to women at the hook-up websites and in the sex industry. Which can be either hidden and small or big and open, depending on the laws and the government attitude in the country.

The only way to get statistically valid results for the whole population is to ask people at random from the whole population and not from some select group of people, who are easy to ask and who will likely answer your questions.

I googled as you suggested. And I found articles that say what the results of this survey are. But I didn't find any description of how the participants in this survey were selected.

From my personal experience, I agree with you that it's a lot easier and safer to find available women in Thailand than in vast majority of western countries.
