Hotel Palacio is still chica friendly and a really nice hotel if you don't mind paying $100 USD and up a night.

Is this your first trip to Santo Domingo or your first trip to the Dominican Republic?

For a newbie to SD the easiest place to find the chicas will be the casas or find a trusting cab driver to show you the spots. Late at night you can find chicas on Avenida Independencia near the Jaragua Hotel for as little as 1000 pesos. The casa chicas are going to cost you double or triple that. There is no central location for chicas in SD. If you get eye contact from a chica she is probably available.

Hi everyone,
First of all, thanks for the wonderful posts. I just booked a ticket to Santo Domingo. I needed a few days of vacation. And since I am not the all-inclusive kinda guy, decided to stay at a nice hotel in SD. But I want to monger while I am out there.
Any advice? Here is my thing, I am a bit timid about mongering. While I have mongered in Asia, US, Europe. I am always a bit scared of pimps, mafia, police, STDs other. I know, I know, its pathetic. But still want to play it safe!
Does anyone have any recommendations? I am a big fan of higher-end brothels in safe neighborhoods. So if anyone can recommend one (I will also do my research on the boards). Sounds like Girls House is a good one. Any others?
Also, any recommendations on nightlife? I hear it is relatively easy to pick up local women. Would love to check out some fun clubs.
Thanks to all!

Try the Sky House right next door to the Girls House. Also try Casa Teresa.
Check out the Jaragua Casino, the casa girls who don't hookup sometimes head there after the houses close.
You can't go wrong with the Girls House. about 20 chicas there. 3,000 st,for 2 hours 5,000 l-t, until 9am.
Good luck!

This is a good recommendation. You might also want to go out to Boca Chica, which is the beach town for Santo Domingo, where there are all kinds of mongering possibilities.

The best strategy depends a lot on your Spanish skills. If you don't speak any Spanish, stick to the casas where there is usually a girl who speaks English. Jaragua may have English speaking chicas as well.
If you do speak Spanish, I have a rigorous work out schedule that works for me! I suggest that you begin each day by looking for a regular girl to invite for dinner. Go shopping, and ask a store girl. Or, buy a coffee on the conde and ask a waitress.
After you have handed out your invitation, go looking for a street girl on Conde or the Parque Colón/ Columbus Park for a little afternoon sex. This can often be a challenge, but if you amble around for an hour, you are likely to find someone interested in you.
After an afternoon sojourn, it will be time to hook up with the lucky chica you invited to dinner during the morning hours. On the first date, she is likely to turn you down when you invite her back to your hotel. Head off for one of the casas mentioned above if that happens. Go short time with a bona fide "9" or "10" from Sky House/Girl House/Casa de Modelos/etc (NEVER long time with these girls- they never stay the night even if you pay for long time). Then, take a nap to replenish the spirit and the juices. Head off to Jaragua about 1 am or so.
There are all sorts of possibilities at the Jaragua, ranging from the not-so-pretty girls playing the slots to the very pretty girls who are gambling alone (they are ALL available in my experience) and, apparently, even the girls who work there. I have never managed to successfully hook up with one of the casino girls, in part because I don't try (having read here that they get out of work at 4 am). In addition, I have never actually felt they were receptive to me. But, it is said to be possible, and the girls working at the Jaragua are amazingly sexy. On the other hand, I have had amazing luck with women who are at the casino gambling alone or in the company of other women. Don't be shy; these are working girls.
This routine should tire you out enough to sleep in until about noon the next day, where the hunt can begin again. On the second night, of course, your regular girl will almost certainly sleep with you assuming that you 1) actually invite her to dinner and 2) that she accepts. If she doesn't want to sleep with you, she will not accept the invitation.
On Fridays and Saturdays, I think that the bar scene on Ave Venezuela is probably pretty good for "freebies" (bearing in mind that no Dominican chica is ever actually free). Be careful not to order whiskey in these bars! If you read my earlier reports, you will see that one of the nightclubs poured me some cheap scotch whiskey from a fresh bottle and then charged me for the entire bottle- $90 USA. I had two alternatives to paying- get the shit kicked out of me or call the police and spend the night attempting to file a complaint in a police station. I paid. Don't get scammed like I did.
My major suggestion on safety is simple: when it gets dark, travel by taxi.
Its hard NOT to get laid by pretty women in Santo Domingo.

This some great advice but for those of us over fifty, I'd skip the afternooner. At least after the first day. Y dime, donde esta Avenida Venezuela?
I'll be in SD next month, and after going back through a lot of posts over the last 2 years, it looks like Hotel Palacio might be a good choice. (Pro posters like Forest and Smokers Rule spoke well of it anyway.) Just wanted to know if anyone has stayed there recently, and if you could comment on the quality and chica-friendliness -- these still hold true?
Thanks,
Ned
I stay there about every 5-6 months. Very nice hotel. Good location and never a problem bringing company in during the day or night.
Thanks ExplorerGT & the rest for your very informative posts. I have one more question, if you don't mind. In your opinion, where is the best place to change money in SD? (When I go to Puerto Plata, I usually change a little in the airport to get me going, and then I have a place that gives a good exchange rate, but I don't know SD at all.)

There are several cambios on El Conde. They all have a sign with posted exchange rate. No need to exchange at SDQ aiport as the taxi will accept USD. What works best for me is a PayPal debit card. No need to carry a lot of cash and it is only $1 per transaction with a good exchange rate at the bank.
When will you be in SD?

I think best exchanges rates on El Conde are Pollo Rey and Frank el Azuano. I prefer Frank because of faster service. Exchange on frank today is 35 pesos per dollar. Check DR1 webpage for exchange rates on specific locations.
I am going to be in Santo Domingo tomorrow and my taxi guy is going to pick me at the airport with a chica in his "jeepeta".

Don't know the name of the place but there's an exchange directly across from KFC on El Conde. Go inside the small walk-in mall and they buzz you into the cambio. I've always found the best exchange rates there.

The place you talk is Frank el Azuano or Franks.
