Lorenzo, I am an American, and yes, American Express canceled my card, removed all the charges from my accound, and gave me a new card.
They had asked the merchants in Bogota to submit evidence that I had made the charges, and none of the merchants could submit anything, not even signed slips with my forged signature.

I'm not an expert on this, and I'm just repeating what I read in the papers, but my understanding is that if you lose your card, or if it is stolen, and you notify the card issuer, your liability is limited to $50 for any transactions that occurred before the notification and $0 for transactions that occurred after the notification. However, if the card never left the card holder's possession, which is really what we are talking about here, the card issuer is considered at fault for approving a fraudulent transaction, and the card holder has no responsibility. In my own personal experience, the card issuer has always notified me, cancelled the card, issued a new one, and required me to sign a notarized affadavit that the card never left my possession. This has happened to me three times, twice in Brazil and once in the US. However, there was never any question of my being liable for the charges, even though they amounted to several thousand dollars..
I do know this as well: credit card issuers keep a profile of every card holder's spending patterns, and when a charge for a large amount occurs that doesn't fit your spending profile, they are supposed to deny it. I have had legitimate transactions of my own denied, but after I called and gave them identifying information, they approved them. Given this fact, the company really is at fault for not catching the transaction, so it is fitting that they eat the cost.

I don't post too often but I do read a lot of the helpful stuff here. Anyway, a few years back. 2004 I think. I stayed at this place called Siesta Hotel Casino. Does anyone know if it's still around and if it's still girl friendly? I remember me and my bud stayed there and had 2 chicks from Lips show up at like 3 am and the front desk rung us to let us know the chicks were there. So that was pretty cool. Any info on the joint would help.
As another option, I was hoping maybe someone that in native to ES could help me find a furnished apt for rent. I'm looking to travel (again with my buddy) in March. 2nd or 3rd week.
In 2005 we managed to score a condo type apartment through a friend and we paid like $200 for 2 weeks. We didn't have to worry about chica friendly hotels.
Lastly, if anyone knows when a good deal is to be had on flights to ES, please post.

The best deal I found was $605 non stop nyc-san salv on taca. It started at $635 then climbed up to $1200 then shot back down to $605.
You can go on delta and continental but you they weren't offering non stop.
Then again you can always go cheaply to guatemala then bus it over.

Thanks again.[/QUOTE]The rate was $87 for three of us in one room. No I did not try any takout chicas. I was with two freinds and we checked in at the last minute. Just went to Kiss Fresh and saw Gabby. Wonderful time with her. I am a big guy but love the little petite ones!! Cute as a button. I was quite impressed with the menu provided at Kiss Fresh. We got there just before closing (didn't know they closed at 8:00 pm) and still got a 20 girl line up to choose from. Nice set up as you have 1, 2 or 3 at a time to choose from.
We had an odd trio. Myself big whitebread American speaks no Spanish but likes to monger, a native from ES that lives her in the US speaks both but does not really know the monger scene and a native from ES that spoke no english but likes to monger. We kept it simple as I got my mongering in at Kiss Fresh and my freind felt more at ease at LIPS. Have to admit... I've never been to a club a good as LIPS for a general strip joint!!
Im here got in today at around 12pm. When I got to the hotel([url]www.hoteltazumalhouse.com[/url]) I was disappointed because I was surrounded by a residential neighborhood. I couldnt see a damn store in site minus the little bodega next door.
The room is cool but really basic for $31 a night payed for with visa. The ac works well and there is a little fridge. Im not far from metro centro but I dont know how to get there yet. I did find a movie cineplex and a great mexican restaurant close by. Tommorow the manager will give me a little tour to aquaint myself with the area..stay tuned.
I will go to novoapart hotel for 7 days as well if they confirm my reservation.
I had the honor of meeting our very own capteasy today. He picked me up at my hotel and took me to kiss fresh. I enjoyed meeting him very much and he was really helpful in making me feel welcome.

I must say I didnt have the greates instincts when I booked this trip but I wanted to visit el salvador again and put it to rest in my head. This is still untouched territory by alot of gringos and I want to experience it before it goes the way of costa rica.
Im not really that excited to be here but maybe that will change. Things arent as vibrant as lets say lima and its a little difficult to move around.
One note on KF is there were alot of girls not really paying attention to clients and kind of just sitting there. They all knew the capt thats for sure. I will see what kind of treatment I get when I go back alone.
By the way capt I got lost going home.
Might I also mention that I payed for the capt entrance four sodas and a 45 minute session for a total of $53. Add another $6 for cab fare back. I will figure out how to walk there so that should help. Again its affordable but not super cheap when you add in all the extras.
Dont go with a dark morena named stacy if you like to do daty. She will squirm and giggle when doing so.

There are few more out on Ave. 49 N., but you'll need to take a taxi or get Cloud Alex to take you.
Did you find out what the guest policy is at your hotelito? If it's friendly, I think you might learn to enjoy that part of town, especially the amateurs and semi-pros. Many are going to be living around you, and since you're in the university district, you should be able to find good inexpensive eating places. If you like funky clubs, ask for directions to La Luna.

Its official I cant deal with the place Im staying so I went to novo apart hotel this morning. They gave me a deal I couldnt refuse $46 a night with breakfast and tax(pay by visa). I dove on it! I will move over there tommorow.
I dont see myself moving from san salv. I have decided to save the beach for the caribbean destinations. Maybe I will take little day trips.
The guesthouse mentioned they allow guests for $10 extra but its way too wholesome of a place and the owners are always in your face. I like my privacy. I think novo will only charge me $15 for a guest and that includes a pool so why bother.
Your advice is good. Once I get settled tommorow I will re group and get a game plan going.
I will go to la luna and that area it was recommended in my guide book as well.
Ill keep posting as I go.
Also Id like to extend a hand to lorenzo. You guys bagged on him for the comment "there is not much to do in el salvador" Its hard to just dive in here. You need to put alot of effort into it or be willing to spend more than you would in other places with cabs etc. etc. Everyone gets off differently. His comment was fair..maybe not explained in full.

Thanks for the kind words. I guess it all depends on what it is you like to do. Given your screen name, I suspect your tastes may be similar to mine, in which case you may have to look long and hard for non-mongering activities. But there are plenty of bars, bodegas, and similar "refectories" for those so inclined.
Glad you liked KF. It alone is worth a trip to ES. You're right about many of the girls seeming aloof and ignoring clients. I think it's all part of a culture in which the man is expected to make the first move. If you go back, and I hope you do, be sure to experience Violeta and Claudia, assuming they are still there. I'm sure Cpteasy will agree with me on that. Enjoy the rest of your trip. I hope to be there in a few months. I'm now recovering from surgery, so mongering isn't at the top of my priorities right now.

Yes I did go back to kiss fresh today. This time I found my way walking. Im sorry to hear you had surgery. ..recover soon.
I did things a little different in KF today. I decided to step up my game a little even if it means spending a little more (heart attack).
Today I did a session with cynthia. I got exactly what I wanted even CIM which is as we all know is a rare treat. I gave her a $7 tip. The capt said give anywhere between $5 -10. I gave $7 which Ive never done before in my life. She earned it. Total cost this time was $47 with one soda drink for her and tip.
I have no idea what I will do here for three weeks. I just dont know so stay tuned. Id like to do all that hiking stuff etc. but that takes time to prepare and you need guides. I just want to take off walking.
I plan on just wandering the streets. If anyone has any errands for me to do let me know.
By the way if you want to move around this country you need a private car/taxi a rent a car or be a flexible backpacker type. I roll with wheeled luggage and that doesnt seem to work on the bus system here. If I wanted to move around like I had planned it would cost me a pretty penny and Im just not into the shuffling around .
Ive been doing this for awhile Im beginning to know what I want.

Actually, CIM seems to be fairly standard at KF. As I recall, I think there's even a bucket in the room for the girls to spit in (or maybe it's the waste basket). Another reason to love the place.

i meant a rare treat outside of el salvador. i know it happens but its not the standard like at kf...yipee.
