But if Balcony and Help disco are both closed now,

then it seems like nothing is left except Mabs and termas. I never heard of Mabs, or else forgot about it.

I had a very good time at 2 of the termas a few years ago, but still,

I think Rio would not be the same without some good discos and bars that have lots of GDPs.

Is it worth visiting now?

You can find some gems sometimes, but there's alot of wash up working girls in Balcony, A lot of veteran guys that been to Brazil many times, have told me they see old wash up help girls, they know been whoring the late 80's (1987,88,etc.) To me all the actions is in the termas or just do your fishing online, Facebook, (Brazil cupid, etc.).

I saw the Black chick that dresses like a witch. I also saw dammit her name just fell out of my head. But she used to do karate, has fucked up teeth, and her weight goes up and down. It was up that day. (Virginia). All of those were past their prime in the Help days, so imagine now. Plus chicks at Balcony were speaking by the hour, to the tune of 300 reais. I did manage to get one who lived in Bumfuck that didn't want to waste a trip going home broke for 100. She said she is a secretary in an office and had to work by 9 am. 300 reais / hour they want. I remember my first girl from Help being 100 reais for all night. Times have definitely changed.

Arrived Friday afternoon and settled into a nice apartment in Aproador. After doing a bit of shopping, etc, I hit the beach for a few hours of sun and swimming. Though I enjoy hobbying while I'm town, there's plenty of other activities to fill in the blank spots. And I guess I picked a perfect week -- sun-and-sand-wise-- as there hasn't been a cloud in the sky, and there won't be, evidently, through the end of my trip. I like to hang at Posto 9 (Barracas Pele & Jorge) as they tend to remember what I like to rent / drink. I met Pele 10 years when it was just him running the kiosk. That dude is a trip; it's hard enough for me to understand Portuguese, but the way he combines it with a kind of clicking noise makes it damn near impossible. However, he's getting up there in age, and recently turned half of the business over to Jorge. I remember Jorge from his days pulling a Coleman cooler around the beach, making all different kinds of Caipirinhas. Two of those fuckers will lay you out; they are STRONG! Anyway, the two of them make a great team, and their kiosk is only a short distance from the Uruguay kiosk, where they make a great tri-tip sandwich. The water has been nice for swimming, though I did get stung by a jellyfish.

On to fucking.

Friday I went to 4 x4 and was fairly surprised by the price hike. It's now 50 for the entrance and 300/320 for 40 min / hour. It's hard not to succumb to the up-sell for the hour, so it's $370 are out the door, and that's before drinks. I'm not the kind of guy who does a good job navigating around Rio Branco, so the massagems, etc, are pretty much off the menu. What surprised me wasn't the price-hike at 4 x4, as I kind of expected that. But it was the constant hard-sell for tips. I mean, every employee there tried to shame you into signing your name on a scrap of paper so that they'd get a tip. It's was really annoying. I usually tip the locker room lady, as she deserves it. But those bartenders can be fucking cocksuckers, and I'll be goddamned if I'm going to cave into their begging routine. Also, 4 x4 got rid of the secondary beer-bar near the back of the main boite, as well as the fire-pole. For $370+, I expect a better experience. The girl I pulled was just average. I've got to give her credit for effort, but she wasn't really a looker. In fact, overall, I had to look hard and close to find a girl of my type. But ymmv.

I was out of town Sat & Sun, so I was ready to get back in the saddle this evening. I changed $400 usd at $2,70, which isn't bad. (board vets pm for details). Then I downloaded and printed a $40 off coupon for Solarium. I had good memories from 3 years ago, and decided to try to re-make some magic. But reading recent trip reports made me a little leery, not to mention the cab ride, in addition to a recent $600 are for an hour TR that gave me doubt as I was walking towards Lagoa to catch a taxi for the rest of the ride around the lake.

For some reason, as I was walking to catch a cab, I took a short-cut down Rua Canning. And about half-way down the block I decided to throw caution to the wind and ducked into Centaurus. I had great memories from a many trips 2005-2012, but that was the last time. I had expected the inflation rate to crush this place too, but if you pay in cash, it's $530 all in, about $150 more than 4 x4. For sure, and easy stretch for a yearly vacation. And once inside, I didn't regret the price for a second. I literally had one of the best experiences I've ever had in Rio. I thought back to a trip to Bomboa in Sao Paulo in 2007 that was pretty mind-blowing in terms of quality. And I have to say, the quality here was very similar. While I had to really look for a girl I would take in 4 x4, there were 5-6 in Centaurus I would have taken right off the bat, and several more that would have also done the trick. After returning from a 40 minute session with a beautiful morena, I went t back into the boite and was shocked at how few guys there were.

I understand if you're living here, and you might have a budget you need to work within. But it doesn't make sense to nickle-and-dime yourself if this is your one trip to Rio for the year. Fucking hell, spend the money and give yourself a memorable experience with a model-quality woman. Again, I'm sure that girls of this level are out there, and for much less. It just takes some looking and knocking on doors. But I'm a one-stop-show guy, and I like the location of Centaurus as well as the amenities.

I'm exhausted, so I'll stop here. I still wonder about the quality at Solarium. But recent TRs on the local forum gave me pause. So I'm glad I gave Centaurus another chance, as it's now back at the top of my list.

The place itself is great-food is amazing and the dj Jefferson is quality and a nice dude but the crucial element-the hot ass chicks are missing. I've been a few times and took nada. Off my list. Centaurus is a high standard but very playboy bunny looking-glam girl so if that floats your boat its the spot. Me personally I think MC always has a few new goodies if I'm going to spend a bit. Its actually never let me down-I've pulled 1 or 2 out of there on every trip-this will be my 9th time. But the fuck can be just as magical at t31/ Florida for 40% of the price. It all depends on what you don't mind compromising on. Cozy vibe, good music, good standard of chicks, no assholes etc.

They get paid per programma and that is it. They do not get a cut on the drink revenue either.

Bottles at 10.000's. I doubt they even have any at that price.

I know some clients spend in excess of R10.000 in one visit, but that is usually a combination of taking many women and running a big bar tap. But these guys are usually foreigners who visit a few times a year.

I know one the wealthy local business man who goes there frequently and his monthly centaurus budget is R5000.

And while we are on the topic of Centaurus I am pleased to tell you that all the reception staff is new since my last visit in August. All the useless fucks who had manned the reception for years are gone and new and better people have taken over.
