With street walkers, of course, you won't be allowed to "check the goods" as well as in a go-go bar, but usually, these SWs are not as "aggressive" (in the commercial sense) as the go-go girls often are. The SWs are often more relaxed and you can quietly and discreetly discuss many specifics (services provided, etc.) with them and they won't be too insistent to go with you if you decide to not taking them even after speaking a few minutes with them. Frankly, most freelancers are very gentle and accommodating and you should not worry too much, provided that you act with a minimum of common sense, of course.

The ones working in the discos and places like Gulliver's, Biergarten, etc tend to be a step up.

Just last night I was coming from the ATM, getting some cash for a quickie on Soi 6, off Sukhumvit / Siam Country as I was exiting the lot a girl on a new Fino with her boyfriend on the back? Stopped right in front of me and she was screaming in Thai for the " Fucker to get the hell off her bike " like a Thai he jumped off never said a word and pull out his phone to most likely call for a ride " I smiled at the excitement and look at him? Now I'm no spring chicken and have no hair and have come to terms with reality and inside I was saying to myself this guy is ugly and stupid looking and the girl was young and hot as I smiled at her at the light on Pattaya Klang. Aside from her bad temper I also wonder what this kid did to her? Most likely two time her but the way he look he should have consider it a miracle that he could land a looker like her?

Der Tourist, one major reason is the flexibilty not to be on contract to the employer to show up for work. That is the life of a Freelancer.

Since the discussion has transitioned to freelancers, I'll give my 2 satang. I know people who only go with freelancers. For the price, they really can't be beat. But protect yourself. I would advise wearing a condom even for BBBJ. Most freelancers, in my experience, are just doing it part time to earn a bit of cash. Some are office workers, bank tellers, etc. During the daytime and just want some extra money to pad their low salary. A few probably have stds but as long as you always protect yourself you should be fine.

Outside the Nana hotel is the best place to find them, but honestly they are riddled all along lower Sukhumvit. Late in the evening I can usually bargain them down to 700 baht and then 300 baht for the short time room. It's a good deal for both parties because they can get in and out quite quickly. If you want to take them back to your hotel, then 1000 baht is the norm. Most are a bit rough, but I have found some absolute gems in the market. Compared to the go-gos where you're going to pay 2, 000 baht ST + 600 baht barfine + 300 baht for drinks + 300 baht for short time room, the freelancer market is a bargain.

Both these venues have more natural girls as well. Strangely some guys like big silicones, but I will still happily go to Baccara to pick an unenhanced girl with no tatoos, and doesn't smoke as well. Have been to Tilac a couple of times, but was bored quite quickly each time. Yet to see what is good about Tilac. Didn't spot an exciting girl, to my taste.

It's pretty easy to be fooled, even experienced mongers have problems there. I get a little nervous when I see a hot looking woman acting fairly aggressively on the street. In front of Nana Plaza and the hotel and all along Sukhumvit, there is a lot of deception in regards to what you're looking at so try to learn about spotting such people. Not trying to scare you, but it's kind of hard to tell. I've been shocked by a long time monger friend of mine, who couldn't tell that was going on with a person in front of us. I didn't know at first myself but figured it out later as my spider senses started tingling.

In regards to picking up freelancers. I've kind of stayed away from the streets and seem to look more for them in discos and sometimes Gulliver and used to go to Beergarden. It's hard to hear and converse in the discos though. In regards to being able to see them in agogo bars, well yeah, you can see them and their bodies, but the lighting and other things are somewhat deceptive like makeup and supportive bras. What you might get after they change and get in natural light sometimes isn't as good as the fantasy under the florescent lighting in the bars.

I never had a problem. When I am not sure, I Just ask. And they will tell you upfront. And if you are too shy to ask them, you deserve picking one up.

Anyway, I was wondering what is the best time to go there? Nep and Cowboy start at 8-9 ish while 10pm is the peak before hot girls start "disappearing" with customers. What is the "opening" time for freelancers in front of Nana Hotel and what is the "peak" time? I am not a late person and would definitely want to find my girl before midnight so that I can go to bed on time and not sleep all day the next day.

Most of the ones I have met will usually tell you if they are LB. Ask them.

I have spoken with dozens of LB. They actually are some of the funniest / friendliest people I have met in Thailand. They are human beings. Just treat them as such and you should not have a problem.

I have absolutely no problem with them as they are just as much humans to me as anyone else. I am also a moral supporter of the LBGT movements and cannot stand homophobes and the likes. However when it comes to bed and having sex it is a whole different story. Just like I could not stand an idea of going to bed with another male, I could not stand an idea of doing the same with ladyboy. Just that, nothing more nothing less.

Anyway I will take the advice and will simply ask if I will have any doubts.

I'd say 10-12 am is peak time, although you'll see freelancers out there all hours, sometimes after 3 am even.

It's not like it used to be. I remember at 2 am the bars would empty and Nana carpark and the sidewalks would be flooded with bargirls; you could pick up that go-go girl you had your eye on for 1, 000 baht with no barfine, but I believe those days are over.
