Sosua Reports

Just read this on another board. Posted today by a well-known and generally well-liked ex-pat businessman in Sosua.

[i]Today, I was arrested for apparently not paying my bar bill. I was there with 3 other people to show them what CMP was all about. Two of them are still here and one was available and came with me to tell the fiscal that the last thing I did before leaving was to pay my bill (180 pesos). I guess they don't want to hear the truth here.

I must have had one hell of a great time the hour I was there because today they presented me with a bar bill for $5, 700 pesos. I had no choice but to pay it. It's strange how this bill magically appeared after they were served with my papers.

I highly suggest that people avoid this place as the people there are desperate and will do anything to get your money. I will NEVER enter CMP again and I highly suggest anyone else who is contemplating going there, be prepared for some bullshit. [/i]

He is sueing them in court for one million pesos for assault and the case comes up next week.

I woud love to see what they say you drank in an hour. I try not to do casas. I like to keep it personal between me and my chica. I am surprised that these guys would stoop so low. Sounds like an urban myth but you never know. I had heard good things about CMP. 150 bucks is not much money.

[/i][/QUOTE]Thanks for the heads-up and I'm sure everyone will make the appropriate decision about where to spend their money. Stuff like this is unfortunate. It's unclear if this is a problem between this person and CMP or this is generalizable because it is a business practice that is affecting others.

I've read complaints about Pasions, CMP, Terra Linda, Rocky's, New Garden, etc. Personally, I haven't had a problem at any of these places. In fact, I've sat in CMP for at least a half hour groping chicas and letting them play with my guevo before deciding to buy a Presidente so I can't say they ever did me wrong. I will, however, make a note of the complaint and keep my eyes open.

Recent events just prove you have to be prepared. It is all up to you how you roll but here are my thoughts. You have to be prepared no matter what as safety is rule number one of this hobby. Assume you being innocent and accused at your first step at the airport. Think about those simple steps a) Most always stand by your price but not in all cases, otherwise prices will escalate fast and things deteriorate and you will be known as pendejo and open for future scams b) stay at really GF place which has proven in the past to stand by the guests c) appreciate your night security watchman d) always take girl's picture, her cedula, let a security write down time in and time out and take a picture on the way out, on a concho and / or escort her to a public place back e) dump a girl at the first sign of suspicion, do not take her for a ride, follow good interview, do not take girls which fall into 'lost in translation category f) name a gift amount before if you up to that g) if the girl does not want to leave your room then leave it yourself and ask for security help, meaning your shit has to be locked always ready for this case h) always know before head whom to call, including Politur patrulla, your lawyer etc I) always have access to emergency cash j) never reveal anything to chica, name, travel details, telephone etc k) be ready for Plan B, C, D etc including rapid ways to leave the country l) understand procedure practice in DR, how things work in practice m) know yourself and) know what have you done and level of a charge against you o) understand and know your adversaries, . Fuck. Have a nice trip!

Again, his drinking not mine. I wasn't there. Just quoting a post from another board because I know from trusted witnesses that it was substantially true, though not necessarily the whole story. I don't spend 5700 pesos on alcohol in a month!

Just returned from St. Martin and wanted to make an observation I just thought about comparing the 2 experiences.

Not talking about number of chicas, prices, service, selection. My entire trip to SXM, not one person asked / expected a tip for anything they did for you. Never a hand out, no begging; Buy a drink and pay for it. If you tip, that's ok too. The people at the hotel were extremely friendly, always saying hello, how are you today, how's everything. They just seemed to be more friendly, where Sosua seemed to be more hustle. Not saying that there were not nice, friendly people in Sosua. Just nowhere near as plentiful as St. Martin.

The chicas were more plentiful, more good choices, and cheaper options for the same service. Not trying to compare that aspect of the 2 trips.

I had to be careful to not get the wrong impression in SXM. When a pretty girl would walk past you and say hello in Sosua, she wanted to go to your room. In SXM, they were just being friendly. Mixing the 2 could get you in a heap of trouble, LOL.

The chica aspect was better in Sosua, although I did find the best one in SXM. TLN in Sosua for 3000 pesos (I know I'm on the high side) compared to the $450 I was quoted in El Capitan in SXM (which was probably a little on their high side). You have a $250 bar fine for taking a girl out of their rotation for the evening.

There was, maybe. 150 chicas in the 7 chica bars in SXM. I think there were more than that in Merangue Bar my last night. You do have a choice of Colombians and Dominicans in SXM. Even ran into a Jamacian one night. Sosua, it's Dominicans (go figure) and Hatians.

Chances of picking up a local in SXM would be no different than any other place. In Sosua, it's seems to be a regular thing. Picking up a local in SXM could be nice, be / see they have many beautiful, young things there.

The other difference is in Sosua, mongering is everywhere, excepted, and very out in the open. In SXM, it's limited to the brothels. That being said, it does not seem to be look down upon. There are brothels next to churches, recreation centers, neighborhoods, etc. Nobody looks at you strange for going into one, etc. In retrospect, there are bikini bars in the states that catch shit from the religious groups. That's why they call the US "sex prison".

St. Martin is is an overseas collectivity of France and the euro is the official currency. The other half (Sint Maarten) is part of the Netherlands. The waitstaff are fairly well paid, but of course you pay for this in the cost of the meal, so tips are not necessarily expected.

Just arrived yesterday. Even though I was very tired I went out for a scroll last night. There seem to be plenty of chicas in the bars around the Classicos Disco and not many mongers. Maybe that was because it was still early (around 9. 30 pm) , but in any case there were many many girls alone. As time passed by more chicas were arriving to the area waiting for the Disco to open. I left before that, but decided to stop by Passions for a beer. Again, plenty of girls and not many guys around. I had a quick beer, chatted with a girl for a while, and then headed home for a very needed sleep. Today I am expecting to meet some semi-pros I met through Badoo. Right now is off to the beach. US citizens might want to have the emergency number of the US Embassy in Santo Domingo, stored in their US cell phone and their DR cell phone. A guy a know, called them at night, when some policia were trying to get money from him. The person at the US Embassy helped him that night over the phone.

The price for sex is more then in the US $ 250, $ 450 in St Martin. Compared to Sosua $50 why is this a discusion. Apples and Oranges.

I forgot to mension and I am sure you will all like to know that while I was staying at Mary Rose apartment you can buy Sildenafil (Viagra) and Mambo from Latino Mini Market in Sosua. You get 96 in a box of the viagra for Road$975 for the box when they charged me Road$200 for 4 on the street and Road$600 for a box of Mambo Tadalafil with 30 in a box. I took 3 boxes home and sold them for US$8 each so hey this will pay for my next flight. Latino Mini not far from NG Check them out on Google Earth or just go to the store and ask for a box or two.
