My last trip was Pats & BKK, I spent 4 night in Pats & 1 in BKK. I was with our fellow monger and we had a blast each night. I never paid more than 1. 5 K for LT for the girls picked from insomnia. RacShack: It will rain every day but in most cases the rain usually only lasts for an hour. As Wolvenvacht stated, it can get much worse than that but it can also be much better. I normally visit Thailand in Sept and October and I think its a very good time to go. You'll avoid the crowds and save a few baht going this time of year.
I suggest you do not change your plans.

You have to remember that in the case where a hotel employee gets involved, you most likely don't know what she's saying to the employee. It could be something like,"He agreed to pay me 1500 baht, and now only wants to pay 1000". Which might technically be correct, but it only half the story. So the employee may simply be going on misinformation, or limited information.
Ages ago in Ao Nang, I became a regular at a bar. There was also this Korean guy who was a regular as well. The Korean was drunk, and was offering everyone a drink from his bucket. The problem is that once a price is fixed in Thailand, the Thais take it very seriously. Even if you don't get exactly the product or service you were hoping for, they expect full payment. The flip side of this is that Thais will almost never try to raise a price once it's been set, as for example the Vietnamese like to do. But anytime a girl asks for payment in advance, it's a warning sign.
