Just information for those who maybe visiting Pattaya over 29/30 November. There is a two day 'International Fireworks Festival' that has various countries competing against each other. I was there last year and will be there this year. If my memory serves me right the barge used as the platform is anchored in Pattaya Bay off the vicinity of Central Festival. I was (and again) am in View Talay 6 and it was a great sight to see. And yes it was crowded as all get out. Just FYI.
Bit late in coming, but better late than never.
Jakarta to Pattaya.
Jakarta to Bangkok flight with Air Asia was delayed so not arrive in Pattaya till gone midnight and I was exhausted. Shared a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya with an Aussie I had met the night before in Top Gun Blok M. Checked into the Bayview Residence right on Beach road, not far down from Walking Street. Lovely hotel, quite a few Arabs staying there though. I not venture out that night, too tired, I just fell asleep.
Pattaya Waitress.
The next day I decide to have some dinner in a seafood restaurant along Walking Street, an Indian looking waitress asks me where is my girlfriend? I tell her not have one, you want to be my girlfriend, She replied yes and gave me her phone number and told me to meet her outside the restaurant at 11pm. She not bad looking, lovely smile, super friendly.
I do a gogo crawl that first night out in Pattaya down Walking street. I notice one really cute stunner in Heavens Above, but could not get a look in as she was very popular with the punters, I make a mental note to return another day when its less busy.
Not really see any other nice girls so return to meet the waitress from the restaurant, and she is waiting outside for me, take her for some drinks and play some pool. We get on well, she originally from Burma, come down from Chan Mai to work in Pattaya.
She come back to hotel with me and stays the night. The next morning walk her back to Walking Street and slip her 1000 baht gift and promise to come and meet her another night. Which I don't.
She was a bit old for me even though I am 15 years older than her.
Soi 7 Bar Girl.
The next evening I head down to the beer bars of Soi 7. Its looking very quiet, even for low season. I sit at one of the first beer bars, not because I had seen a nice girl just wanted a beer and a rest. Then out of no where a cute bar girl joins me, just my type.
She is a nice girl, we settle on 1500 baht short time, pay 300 baht bar fine then jump on a baht bus back to Bayview residence. No problem taking the girl to my room, Bayview Residence is girl friendly, don't need to check them in. But lots of normal tourists.
Around this area looking at my catch. She was a lovely girl, giving a full on girlfriend experience.
Coyote Dancer.
The next night I do a few more gogos down walking street, a few I had not been in the night before, quality of the girls is overall low. Not seen it this bad before. I remember complaining the girls were too skinny now a lot are fatties.
I head back into Heavens Above around 9pm and that girl is on stage the one I had my eye on the night before I tell the waitress I would like to talk to her. African Girl.
My last night in Pattaya and first I try the Honey 1 body massage up Soi 11, a couple of cute girls in the models lounge, here the girls are younger, no kids, a couple looked like genuine student types but not once did they look up from their mobiles phones at me, so I left them to it. The girls in the model lounge go for 3000 baht for 90 minutes. I left there and headed back towards Walking street.

Pattaya is changing, it notices when you only go every 3 years or so. Tourist numbers are up mostly from the BRIC nations (excluding Brazil) sex tourism is down. The quality of the girls working in the gogo clubs is the worst I have ever seen.
If they look hot then they are probably just coyote dancers. Prices were no cheaper for low season. Beach is looking alot cleaner. Some places still have the old spirit like soi 6 and soi LK Metro.
Even so there are still some gems to be found in the smoothing over and it still beats a night out back home by miles, For how much longer though I don't know.
Next trip to Asia may leave out Pattaya and return to Cambodia and the Philippines.

Pattaya is a resort town. I always drink more, barhop more, and stay up later in Pat than in BKK. In any case I think Pat is still good. I don't compare it to 2002, the first time I went there. 2002 is long gone. My suggestion to you is take your own advice and visit AC, Subic, and Phnom Penh. As you know, those scenes are very different from that in BKK or Pat and I think the change will do you good.

It's a pretty neat show. Just remember that there is a few minutes of quiet time between each team's exhibition. So don't leave after the first one finishes!
