For what you want to pay the ONLY PLACE I recommend is Red Knight Garden. You should now be able to get a decnt, clean efficiency room with a / see, nice, queen size bed, cable tv and hot water in your shower for 1000-1100 per Nt; less if you stay longer or call in advance. I am aware of a lot of places here that are cheap. THEY ALL ARE TERRIBLE! The backpacker dump that is highly touted by nobodys on the Original Davao Board in Phil Forum is terrible. GoodEnough and I once sat in a vehicle for 20 minutes in front of the entrance one early evening watching the detritous coming / going. Even in my college days when I travelled a lot I would have passed on this place and the others.

So she got hims out of his dark, basement apartment in a quiet section of Brooklyn and into a much more expensive place elsewhere. I can see the Kid just nodding his head and getting "pulled along by his ear to the new place". I would imagine that by now she is controlling his bank account and has him hand over his paycheck to her directly every two weeks.

You can get a studio for about Php1, 000 (about $22) for a short-term stay and can drive the price down to about Php800 if you want to stay for a month or more. This is an attractive place, with nice grounds, and a small pool and restaurant that serve adequate food. The downsides are that, while clean, the furniture looks like it was purchased at K Mart in the 60's, the TVs are small, and the place is about a ten minute cab ride from the center of the city. There's a place called (I think) Rose's Pension which is off Bakaka Road, and it too is inexpensive and clean. The downside there is that it's also about ten minutes away from the center of town and a bit difficult to find if you don't know the city at at all. I think that both of these places have websites.

There's a small hotel on Bajada called Villa Margarita that's clean, attractive and cheap, but I'm not really sure exactly what the room rates are. There's another hotel called Galleria just off Quirino St. That has rooms starting at about what you want to spend. I've known a few guys who have stayed there and gave it decent marks. Finally, there's a studio apartment complex called Drifters. It's owned by a British guy and his Filipina wife, has a very small pool and an attractive imitation British pub. It probably has a website as well. As with Red Knight, this is a bit removed from the center of town, but within a 10-15 minute taxi ride. Barba has written a couple of times about My Hotel on San Pedro St. It's an inexpensive place, but I'm not sure of the room rates.

There are lots of new, small hotels opening all over the city and it's tough to keep track of them all. However a quick taxi ride around town should reveal lots of additional possibilities for you if you're unhappy with the initial choices.

I got online and founc flights leaving later in July at a price I find agreeable and through Portland Int'l Airport to Tokyo. This IS without a doubt the finest Airport I have ever travelled through. Happy to hear from you. I arrive in Manila the last week in July. I will stay in Makati City for a few days to see my infant daughter and enjoy the City. I was planning to then fly to Cebu and after a few days travel by boat to Ormoc city where my lady I met, as I was on the Terrace and she happened to walk by on the street below, will be meeting me there. I can change all this and first go to Davao City and on to CDO. I will keep options open.

Coming from a Law Enforcement Family and background I can tell you this is BEYOND DANGEROUS. Like Johnny Redneck in Ohio is going to go into a Tavern, carrying his 44magnum, Glock, S & W 38 (was back then the weapon of choice by Federal Agents for obvious reasons) , etc. But they will NOT be consuming any alcohol. OKAY! Next Stupid, fucked up Law.

I sincerely hope that this Trip I do not run into the three Foreign Aid Workers from another western country. Rose and I were invited to a dinner party at De Bonte Koe. I quicly got away from these three assholes, all of whom were sporting their "K Mart Best" polyester clothing (I bet each of they may have paid as much as $ 10 US for the outfit they were wearing).

If I run into these Dickheads again, it will be my bad luck they will have read about this Ohio Law passing. I hate these Politial Attacks and I DEPLORE the Fuciking Assholes who do this? Thankyou for sharing your experience later that evening. A good number of the people attending the dinner party that night at De Bonte Koe Restaurant had been "dipping heavily into the eggnog" at GoodEnough's manse prior to joining us. Most were totally wasted (had I held up three fingers they would have replied nine). When I started to remove my jacket as I felt warm, a lady friend of ours came over and, without asking me, began to drag my jacket off my back and stuff it into a heap behind my butt. I had to stand and get my suit jacket and fold it over a chair to save my tailorer, cashmere wool, armani from being ruined. Rose asked me,"is _____drunk?" I only nodded "Yes".

We departed as soon as we ate to avoid the experience of seeing how the evening might progress. Having Little C, has proved a nice excuse to exit when necessary. I make a big target for drunks to insult and otherwise abuse. I prefer to avoid such types now that I have children. When a Dinner Party is scheduled for an evening is IS ALWAYS A SMART RULE to avoid drinking until you arrive. This lessens the likelihood of making insults you may regret later or other problems. When I dropped by again for lunch the following Monday, Henny asked me why he heard comments about the lousy red wine served that evening (the one you bought). I told him the wine was excellent but seveeral of those in attendance had spent way too much time "warming up" before hand.

I will be back shortly. Have no idea yet what my plans will be. The Marco Polo has rates on Agoda. Com that are way too high for August. So I will most likely stay at Apoview. Still an excellent Hotel.
