Yeah the ring tone is different, but I don't know any way to get around that either. And the room rent is 35BD during the weekdays at Phoenicia, so try to go there on a Non Saudi Weekend, which is hard for people who work during the week but at my new job, I'll be working some weekends and will have some days during the week off.

There is another solution that you put your own tone or a shunk of a song or theme you like.

When I ring you I hear the tone you choosed and this will stay even when you are in bafrain.

Since starting this new job in Saudi, I got 2 days off on Sat and Sun so headed to Bahrain. Tried for a room in Family Plaza, and they said it's full. What the fuck? Even on a non Saudi weekend they are full, I don't get it.

So headed over to Phoenicia, got a double room for 35BD. In Phoenicia they try to rip you off if you pay in Saudi Riyals, so make sure you have BD's to make the payment or you'll end up paying something like 40BD for the room due to their own exchange rate.

DJT, Ramadan is the whole of September. It will start about the first and last till the end of the month. No bars will be open, no serving of alcohol from hotels. I'm not certain if the hotels will serve if you get a room. If someone has better information, I'm sure we'd like to know.

Generally (at least over the past three or so years) the place dies. Small restaurants use the time for refurbishment and sending their staff on leave. Be advised to stock up on the booze. I've heard that Gulf Cellar are doing a special deal on beer. Buy three cases and they will give you four. I'm off to the booze shop today before they run out. The clubs will be open, but for members only. They don't tend to let anybody else in during the month. In the past there have been mutterings to shut the expat clubs during the month, but nothing has been done about it. Thank God ! There would be an exodus.

Girlfriend leaves in a couple of weeks, just before Ramadan, will have to try out Diggers again and F1. Or just Queens. Any other venues that come to mind I'll report. Don't want to overspend on Phoenicia. Does anyone have up-to-date info on the Al Yamana Hotel?

Popped into seashell last night. Very empty early on as they have now gone the way of Diggers (at weekends) and F1 and have started charging the girls 5BD entry after 7pm.
