You must be a fast walker to get from El Conde to Jaragua Hotel/Casino in ten minutes. It takes a minute or two just to walk from the rear entrance of Jaragua to the Casino. I am not too fond of walking that dark stretch near the cementary at night. Not to mention the dangerous potholes in the sidewalk that are hard to see at night.

True you will find an ocassional gem but for someone new to Santo Domingo I would not put El Conde on a "must do" list for chica chasing. El Conde is great for chica watching but catching them is a different story.

The most dangerous thing was indeed the potholes. I didn't know I was that close to El Conde as I wasn't prepared to tour the sites. I do believe it's well over a 10 min walk. What I need is a good map of the city. That would be a great help.

As for chicas, considering that El Conde is so close to the (excuse spelling) Casanda Dorado hotel, which was very chica friendly and lots of action to be had near by, I shall consider staying there again.

I take that walk often just for the exercise as I stay at the Riazor. I DO agree with you however that El Conde itself is not a place I go to at night. I never understood why people stay at the Mercure because at night, El Conde itself is sketchy. Newbies should stick around the Jaragua and enjoy the benefits of the Girl's/Gin House or Lapsus, the casino girls, or even the girls working the street around there. Even just hanging at Manolo's and enjoying a cup of cafe con leche can bring results :)

I have been through Zona Colonial a few times on foot and several times by car. Many streets in Zona Colonial are real narrow with the cut deep cut outs on the sides for when it rains. I like a bar in Zona Colonial called Bar Atarazana, quiet place on most nights, on the weekends they have a second floor that they open up for more dancing. I have seen some attractive chicas in that place. I usually get a little lost while driving in the Zona Colonial. Eventually, I will learn it. I have walked from the V Centannario to Calle Las Damas and then back along the Conde, during the day. I sweated my ass off. At night I wouldn't suggest walking it. One block past Pastuer on Independencia going towards el Conde, Independencia is really quiet at night there. Not many people walking there late at night. Where the round-a-bout is, at the beginning of el conde, there are usually taxis, guaguas at night. I saw a few working girls standing around in the streets at this location. In other parts of Zona Colonial I did not see many working girls. On the weekend nights Zona Colonial can get filled up. Lots of cars, parking becomes more difficult. Outdoor cafes where you can sit, drink a beer, make eye contact with chicas at other tables. I got the cell number of one waitress in a bar in Zona Colonial, I brought other chicas to this bar and the waitress was discreet.

Photos of two chicas I met in Bar Atarazana who later showed in the Jaragaua Casino Bar. One was Colombian. The other one had braces and looked a little Asian. The other chica decided to dance on the bar at the Atazarana.

The freak I met online. She took a taxi to the Jaragua Hotel and Casino to meet me. I was traveling with a friend and we were staying at the Barcelo Capella in Juan Dolio. The freak said she wanted to visit the Capella. So we took her to Juan Dolio. The Capella charged 50 dollars for the chica to stay in our room. We went to the Decameron Casino in Juan Dolio and got hammered. We used the upstairs bar at the Decameron Casino, no other people there but us. Did a threesome with the Freak. She has nice titties and was open to doing everything. The next day I drove her home in the morning. Sat in a lot of traffic in Santo Domingo and I got lost after I dropped her off. Would have been easier for me to drop her off somewhere in the center and have her take a taxi home. When I was about to drop her at home she started with the sob story about her finances. I gave her an Lg cell phone that I bought on amazon for 15 dollars and maybe I gave her 700 or 1000 pesos.

The working girl I met in the Jaragua Casino, she was not overly attractive and my friend was trying to bust my balls, saying she was ugly. She had a nice personality so I chatted and danced with her. I did not discuss price with her, so not sure how much she wanted.

Stayed at the Aurora del Sol on Carretera Mella last week on a Tuesday night. $77 per night ($92 with breakfast) At check in, they put a wristband on you which permits you to go up the elevators to the rooms. Parking is under hotel and elevator from there shuts down at night.
Showed with no reservation and got a room on the 6th floor. Very first room next to elevator (noisy) and with no view (a/c equipment was outside window). Nice room with cable TV and hardwire computer internet access.

Casino was rather small but busy all night. Went down to check out disco about 11:30 pm on a Tuesday night. (Second disco on 4th? floor only open Thursday to Sunday) Its entrance was around the corner to the right of the front of hotel. No cover (at least for hotel guests) and it was empty. Security told me to come back after 1:00 am. Returned at 2:00 a.m and it was starting to rock. About 60-80 people and another 10-15 entered on my way out. There were at least a half a dozen real bonitas but lots of the chicas were with guys (both gringo and Dominicans). Got checked out by most of the chicas but didn't see many obvious working girls. Only spent about ten minutes because my novia was waiting for me in the room.

Plan on going back solo when I arrive on X-mas night. Will report again.

Thanks so much for your report. I am booked at Aurora de Sol this coming weekend. This will be my first time at Aurora del Sol and I had some doubt about this hotel from reading a previous report.

Does Aurora del Sol allow guests? If so do they also have to wear a wristband?

What else is there to do in the area?

I am a senior memeber on the sister site USA so not a rookie and have been to DR many times before but always alone and north Sousa / Puerto Plata.

Guess what??????? I just received an email from management at Aurora del Sol and this is what they said: "We do not allow guests in the room. However, we have our lobby or restaurant for you visits. Thank you for writing us. Any other question, please let us know."

So much for my upcoming reservation as I am about to cancel right now.

Take the back exit from the Jaragua and make a right on Independencia and walk in the direction of Zona Colonial. Walk in the same direction as the automobile traffic. After about two blocks you will see a restaurant something like Vlla hernanos, busy place, that is Avenida Pasteur, make a right and on the left side of the street, you will see a sign that says girl's house (or sky house) and about 30 feet from this place is another place sky house. I was told that sky house opens in the early afternoon. Good assortment of chicas in those two places. Hotel adjacent to both places that you can use. Or ask a taxi driver on the malecon, that you want some early morning action and see what they suggest. The casas I believe are open 24/7, casa modelos, casa teresa and casa azul. Most taxi drivers will know where they are. From what I remember, Casa Azul has rooms where the girls live, so that place should always have chicas on premises.

I checked in around midday and told them my novia would join me later. I walked in with her around 8 at night and they just put a wristband on her without any questions. I think they looked at her cedula but they had asked for mine when i checked in as well. I'm sorry I didn't think to address the issue in more detail at the time. I don't see how they could distinguish between my situation and some chica you picked up in a disco.
If in doubt, go to another hotel (Jaguar, Palacio, Discovery, Raizor) and just use the Aurora for late night entertainment.
Someone asked me previously about cabs to the Aurora since its so far from Gazcue/Zona Colonial. I had a car but asked a cabbie at the back entrance to the Jaragua how much to the Aurora. It was around midnight and he started at 300P.

-Walk out to the back of the hotel to Avenida Independencia
-Look to your left, about 1/2 block and you'll see Lapsus. Go in
-Or....walk to your right to the corner (Pasteur)?. Make right. You'll see Gin House about 1/2 block down. Go in and check it out

-Or sit at Manolo's (across the street from where you come out on Independencia). Have a bite to eat and watch the working girls stroill by. Call one over and buy her a beer...

CrazySunny69 where are you? I would like some answers on Aurora de Sol. I just received an email about their guest policy. I sure would not consider this hotel a "chica friendly" hotel. The room is $77 USD a night, PLUS $38 USD chica fee.

It looks like a nice hotel but sure NOT for chica chasing.
