I'll be staying at The Base condos in central Pattaya and I'm a bit confused on how to take the baht buses to two particular points of interest; Sanctuary of Truth and The Big Buddha.

I know for the Big Buddha, I'll need to take the regular Beach Rd route then connect to the Jomtien baht bus but I don't know exactly where to get off in order to walk the rest of the way to the Buddha. * I guess it would be the reverse in order to get back to Pattaya, ie. , hail the Jomtien bus coming back then connect back on the regular Beach /2nd road line.

For Sanctuary of Truth, I think I take the same regular route on 2nd road then get off somewhere around the Dolphin Circle to connect to another baht bus that goes towards the north area. But again I don't know where is the best spot to get off and walk the shortest way to the Sanctuary and back.

Anyone here more familiar with these routes?

[/QUOTE]Do yourself a favor and take Bolt to those places so they will just drop you off in front. It will be so hot that I would not recommend walking the rest of the way after getting off the baht bus.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts about the issues over all. I've read the same about the tax treaty. That requires an act of the law making body here in Thailand. Not a simple rule change. You make a good point. Why does the revenue want to receive bunch of returns that it has to process if there is no revenue due? That just costs them money without making money. Does not accomplish the purpose of the rule change (which is to generate more revenue). I'm quite comfortable with the advice I have received for my personal tax situation. Ultimately everyone will have to handle their own business their own way.

I do my extension in Jan I would be real shock if my application is stopped due to not filing a tax return.

Unless Thai people work in a factory, they are usually not paying income tax.

Will it be your first tax return here?[/QUOTE]I will only if I get a written notice from my Thai bank that I must do so or my ATM card, deposit, withdrawal and online transfer options will no longer work or if it is listed as a requirement on the Thai Immigration website or the Immigration Officer at crunch time tells me I must do so or I can not extend my retirement visa.

Otherwise, I am not going to do it just because an article in the Bsngkok Post says I need to do it or any other publication or anyone here.

However, I am fine with anyone posting anything they hear, see or read about it here. You never know where a lead to a clever workaround or convenient short cut for that or any other required process might pop up.

If the reinterpretation of the tax rule imposes enough taxes on current residents to cause them to evaluate if they should pay or just stay for 180 days, it could have negative effect on the amount of money the spent in Thailand on a variable basis.

Hi All,

I have a business trip to Bangkok (first time) and read a lot in the forum.

I have one free full day during the trip and I am thinking of going to Pattaya.

My questions are:

1. Is it worth it to go for one day to Pattaya or better to focus on Bangkok?

2. I am staying in Avani Riverside hotel (Charoennakorn Road, Thonburi, Bangkok) and have lots or colleagues with me.

A. Is it girl friendly?

Be. Do I have to pickup the girl from the lobby or she can come to my room directly?

I am free at night during the first few days of work. Any recommendations for evening mongering (I need to be efficient)?

Any general recommendations or advice?
