They were going to eat regardless whether or not you showed up. As for transportation, most of my non-pros have cars or motorbikes already. So that is not an issue. But if they didn't a motorbike taxi or regular taxi is all of 50-100 baht each way.

I don't know with what kind of (allegedly) "non-pro" girls you are going out (they more likely are "semi-pro" in Thailand if you find them in a club and if they easily agree to spend the night with you on the first date), but those that I have met so far don't go out alone with a foreigner on the first date (they have at least one of their friends coming with them that you must entertain too, at least to some extent), they very seldom fuck with a foreigner on the first date, they usually would suggest a visit to the nearest shopping mall (at the foreigner's expense) before granting their favors (those are not much different than "semi-pro" girls then), etc. According to my own experience, and at least with most of the young cute ones, you end up spending much more money and losing much more time (especially during the courtship phase) with "non-pro" girls.
