Patpong, Same-Same as Before
Will be back in Bangkok in April for a couple of nights after an absence of two years. It's a town that I used to know quite well, but my knowledge is dated and probably irrelevant now. I will be staying in the area around Patpong and, as I only have two days, will probably not travel around very much. Any new bars on Patpong 1 or 2 that haven't been reported on here?
I think you will find that Bangkok has not changed as much in the last two years as you may think. The best bar in Patpong is probably still "Electric Blue" since it is one of few bars in Patpong that doesn't suffer from an over-abundance of ladyboys and pushy mamasans. I also think that "Star of Light" is the best blowjob bar in Bangkok. The price is 700 baht for BJ only or 1,000 baht for full service.
There are a couple of fairly new bars near Electric Blue, but they don't appear very interesting to me. And there are still all of the King's Castle and Queen's Castle bars--some of these are 100% ladyboys and some are a mixture of ladyboys and real girls. I can never remember which is which, so I just avoid them all and go to the smaller, quieter bars that have real girls.
And obviously you already know to ignore the touts on the street who try to take you upstairs to see the "ping pong show" or "sex show". Most of the upstairs bars are clip joints that survive by ripping off un-informed tourists.
That's all I know about Patpong. I am far from an expert, so maybe someone else on here can chime in if there are any more recommended bars in the area.
Thanks for the detailed suggestions...

I must say, you do make me laugh. Hey, if you need the floating market thing as a cover story for the wife or GF back home...
You got it right - I do need it as a cover story and some for my touristy-curiosity.

If you can get to your hotel and check in by midnight, ...
I land at midnight, so I think I will have to follow your late-arrival plan.
People watch.
I love doing that!
Take a cab over to Soi 11 and if you see the 7-11 across the Ambassador hotel, Sabai Sabai is right behind it. It's a dark lane, so not so comforting to walk back there for a newbie in the early hours.
This certainly helps, even if I come here later :)
Don't fall asleep and fall into the water. But if you do, please give us a full report! (Joke).
Now you made me laugh, you have a funny sense of humor!
If you get done early enough or if your flight is late enough in the afternoon, you may just have time to catch a massage at Tulip, Thonglor, Akane or Angels.
From the reports, Akane and Tulip have interested me - so mebbe I'll checkout one of these...
The contingency plan, if you get in too late, would be to hit the NEP area and see if you can catch a freelancer or go to Sabai Sabai and do a take out.
Looks like this is what I may have to do, of course I will consult the Lord himself - Lord Giotto!
BTW, does Sabai Sabai also have a fishbowl (like others) for take out?
I'm sure Giotto will save a girl or two for you.
Thanks Giotto!
