Wan Chai Bar cover charge for non-whites
re fenwicks and the cover. cause you are brown, they are going to do that. if you walk in with a white dude, they won't charge you cover. This has been my experience every time there.
That's my experience too at Fenwicks, Neptune and Laguna. Walk in with white mates (i'm UK indian) and no worries. On my own, been asked for a cover charge though not always. Last time I was showing my cousin and his chinese supplier around - fenwick asked 100HKD each which included a drink. Paid up 'cos needed to show my cousin the place. Normally I would decline or object and work my way thru it. It's not the money but the principle of it all. Hell, I spend shed loads on drinks in these places.
Also, you'll find it's more difficult for asians to pick up - some girls obviously don't go with indians - helps if you are with a group of white mates.
It's not nice and always upsets me. Live with it 'cos there's not much one can do.
Mind you, I was in Fenwick just b4 Xmas with mates and pretty tipsy. Got approached by the very pretty pino and her mate. I was standing there without a girl (having just blown out a thai girl I really fancied but who looked like trouble after a convo with her). They were both a double act and very friendly. Had a great time with them in the bar and took them both back. Not really into the 2 girl thing - was feeling self-consious and asked the less attractive girl to go into the spare room. Had an absolutely fab time with the other one and exchanged numbers. She was very GFE and quite obviously taken with my apartment and where I live.
Unfortunately I was going back to Uk for Xmas and she was only there for 2 weeks. Got a text from her asking when I was back. Got back on New Years eve but she was flying back an hour after I got in. Ah well, next time.
