Visited Rio in October 2014 and Help has been torn down due to crime and drugs, in it's hay day Help and the restaurant outside where the girls hung out trying to catch a trick before the went into Help was truly outstanding.
Barbaella was still open but nothing like in it's glory days when he was known as the Temple of the 10's, but still worth a visit. Solarium was not so packed today. I could tell that all the people in there are businessmen. I got in by 930 pm. There were so many hotties waiting to be your date. When you're leaving Rio, I recommend you leave earlier than you think you should. It's not that bad when arriving as no matter how late you get to your hotel / apartment your reservation will still be there. But missing your plane is a scenario no one wants to experience. I stress this because a local friend told me that Rio does not have just one rush hour. It has three, and the last one is around 9-10 pm. This is because people in and around Rio have different work schedules. I took a bus both when I was arriving and leaving. Arriving bus wasn't bad. It had air-conditioning, WiFi and comfortable seats. It did take the long way to copa which I didn't mind because I wanted see the city along the way. Leaving was another story as it was night and the traffic was unbelievably congested. Even if I took a taxi, there was no way of avoid nail-biting frustration as precious time went by and missing my plane became a real frightening probability. Plus, the bus took some insane route in circles just before the airport. Rio airport is also quite huge and not the most efficient. Depending on your airline you might have to run a long way to get to your gate. I did make it to my plane but I tell you it was a photo finish just before the door closed. Do yourself a favor and leave early for the airport.

It was not the highway traffic near the airport that caused the delay but how long it took driving through the local neighborhoods before we got on the highway that took forever. I have been known to get to the airport and decide not to leave, but this was not one of those times. If you really have to leave, plan on getting that last bit of entertainment out of the way earlier.
