O.K. Ladyboys are everywhere in Thailand but cannot think they are more prevalent in Soi Cowboy than at Nana or Patpong. I also remember plenty of them in Phuket. So warnings could well apply to all major bar areas.

The only gogo that I can’t comment on is Long Gun, all the others had LB’s, some of them many (like 30-40%). I combed the entire street and checked each single gogo bar, in some I just took a quick look and left straightaway.
I got into Long Gun but it was packed, there wasn’t even a place to sit so I left and didn’t have the opportunity to check it properly. I’d be surprised, though, if Long Gun was the only bar in the whole street with no LB’s… Most probably they have some too, following what seems to be an epidemic in this street.
Baccara had some LB’s too, as well as the usual Japanese crowd.
It’s true that there are LB’s everywhere, but only Patpong and, now, soi Cowboy have a worrying degree of infestation. Nana is nowhere near the level of these 2 areas from what I saw.
So I’d say it’s a matter of avoiding the whole area, rather than some specific bars; or at least being aware of what you can expect.

Hmmm, as I said before I may not be enough qualified with my 1 stay 1 week only visit.
However, don't take it wrong, but I would rather like to have this confirmed from some other eyes. You are the first and only one mentioning this 'high density'. Nobody else came up with that so far. From my observation I had the impression that at Nana the LB density is rather higher then Soi Cowboy, but I was not in search and counting.
In the second post it comes down to the question how to spot LB’s. I don’t say I would be able to spot 100% of LB’s, but I doubt that so many would be able to pay for a good operation creating a perfect pussy when it comes to the nude show on stage. Anyhow the girls on stage of Long Gun (completely naked), Suzi Wong (completely naked) and Sharks (not completely naked, transparent clothing), I would have no one rated a LB. But I was also not in search of evidence for it. Knowing that a place hires ‘perfect’ LB’s would be a turn off and I would avoid this place. I guess many of us would react the same and that’s why I doubt somehow your observation. Probably you are to ‘sensitive’ in ‘spotting’ LB’s?
So lets see if there are others with similar observation. We might need to send Giotto as a spy.

It is Soi 8 of Rama IX (9) road. From Rama 9 Underground Station go about 700 metres east along Asoke-Din Daeng road which becomes Rama 9 road, and turn right at Soi 8 (RCA). It runs south east from there.

Basically the area where Bangkoks young people go (eg. me :) )! A place for locals, and not an easy hunting area.

Baccara has usually Japanese customers, correct, and they would be scared away if LBs danced in there.
Nana has at least 2 LB bars, there are ONLY LBs in there. And at the entrance of Nana and the parking lot also lots of them.
In Soi Cowboy there are LBs walking up and down the road, but inside the bars, dancing, ... not in the bars I know.

Look for one or more of the following (one point only is often not enough):
1. Very tall
2. Deep voice
3. Broad shoulders
4. Strange hips
5. Big hands
6. Adam’s apple
7. Too much makeup or too white in colour
8. Exaggerated walk or hand movements
9. Big jaw
10. Unfeminine face
11. Silicone breasts
12. Straight body or excessively curved
13. Big show-off or excessive confidence
etc.
Most ladyboys are easy to identify for the experienced eye. I have 15 years of experience in and out of Thailand and can spot most ladyboys in a 1 to 2 second glance. However there are a small percentage of ladyboys that are quite difficult to pick. Unfortunately there are probably a similar number or higher of real girls that have something odd about their looks corresponding to my list above and will be mistaken for or at least suspected of being ladyboys, especially by guys that have already been fooled once and may become slightly paranoid about LBs.
Numerous LBs were outside the Nana Plaza tonight perhaps 30%. Lollipop appeared to have a few LBs, and two of the 2nd floor bars as well as Carousel were full of them. Nana and Patpong are LB heavy areas. A walk along Sukhumwit Road found several more LBs.
I was willing to be proved wrong so I wanted to do my own survey of bars in Soi Cowboy tonight.
I only had 1 night available so I decided just to do a few of the good bars. However first went up and down the Soi to see if any LBs in evidence drumming up business for the bars. No identifiable LBs found.
Now I speak Thai very well, so I decided to interview various Thai girls, including any suspected of being LBs, to see if they could help me find any LBs. Each bar usually had at least 1 or 2 suspicious looking girls. Ended up with extensive conversations with about 6 girls, who all turned out to be not LBs, even the ones I had some suspicions. There was general agreement by most that, not only did their bar have no LBs, but that most other Soi Cowboy bars also did not have them. General agreement was that perhaps a few bars may have one or two LBs. Did not hear of any ar with extensive LBs.
Baccarat had no LBs. Dolls House also none. Suzi Wong also none (except for mamasan who is not counted as she is not available to customers for sex). Couldn’t find any at Long Gun. However was indicated by some grils interviewed that 1 or 2 LBs existed at Deja Vu. So I went there. 3 very tall girls in evidence. My assessment: First one I rated as 0% chance of being LB, 2nd one about 20% chance and 3rd one about 50% chance. So none were completely obvious LBs. I chatted to one with very small tits who confirmed that the bar did have one LB, but was sorry that couldn’t be brought to me despite her great beauty, as was not in tonight. She confirmed that all 3 of them were regularly mistaken for LBs. I decided to bar fine her and do the full pelvic exam under good lighting. I don’t care how good the plastic surgeon is, I think I will know a real pussy. Photos are provided for your examination as well.
My survey is not foolproof but was enough to confirm the gross exaggeration of the other report in my mind. Having found not one confirmed LB by anybody, I can confidently say that while there are LBs in Soi Cowboy, their numbers are clearly lowish in my chosen popular bars and way below the numbers easily found at Nana Plaza and Patpong. No-one could tell where to go in Soi Cowboy to find plentiful LBs.
Guys, always be on the look out for some hits on my list of tell tale signs, and if not absolutely sure you have 100% real woman, move on! On the other hand don’t persecute the poor tall girls are just happen to look feintly suspicious.
Obviously, I prefer to believe what I see rather than what I read from unknown (and probably biased) sources, so I stand by my point.
For those who are in doubt, go and find it out yourself.
All I know is that I will try to avoid soi Ladyboy in the future, in the same way as I try to avoid Patpong.

Hmm, now I am in doubt if you are really fair there. If you have no problem with Nana LB density which did not only by my 'pass by' obesrvation, but by ML's 'search for evidence' observation 'filled' with a higher density of LB's, you should avoid consequently all of them. For me it seems more obvious that you for some reason (bad experiance? and then 'pay pack' by bad rumors?) hate Soi Cowboy.
I have not stayed long enough yet to have any preference.

Upstairs they have shows that probably novelty value for newbies but are ugly rather than erotic IMHO.
Nana is boring for me these days. Several bars with LBs to be skipped. A few good bars like Angel Witch and the Rainbow group. But full nudity very light on.
