I recently matched with a few girls on tinder and had two specific experiences that I thought I would share.

After matching with the girl, she will typically ask you to meet her close to her "place". Both girls asked me to meet in the proximity of 湖21271;36335;31119;24030;36335; 七20998;29980;38376;21475;35265; which makes me think the scam is operating predominantly put pf this area. They seem to target foreigners and have no issue using English to communicate (but I used mandarin).

After meeting with the girl she will walk with you and then ask if you want a drink.

With the first girl I was brought to a bar. The menu had incredibly inflated drink and food prices. And she proceeded to order a large amount of food and drinks. For two people we had 32 shots of tequila, a large plate of desserts, and two or three cocktails with the total coming to 2800 rmb.

I had been drinking earlier that night with some friends so didn't think much of it until after the bill came and I realized this was likely a scam. And as soon as the bill was piad the girl was in a hurry to get me in a taxi to leave.

The day after I met up with another tinder date who asked me or meet in the same area. The first red flag was she didn't look like her photos, but I decided to run with it to see how this would unfold, with the full intention of only paying for any drinks I purchased for myself and nothing for the girl. We then proceeded to walk and talk with her bringing up the idea of stopping again to have a drink. I told her I was very full from lunch and that I didn't drink alcohol, but she proceeded to pick a bar. After sitting in the bar I decided to change the venue to see how she would react. I had a snarling suspicion that the bar (and the one form the previous night) were all set up together as their menus were almost identical (items, layout, price). To give some perspective, a glass of sprite was 75 rmb. I asked to leave and told her I would prefer a coffee shop. We then walked for a bit longer before she chose another shop in the alley. This coffee shop was small and only had two small rooms that closed off. The server brought me a menus that was IDENTICAL to the ones from the previous two stores. I ordered only a single lemon water (20 rmb) and once again, the girl proceeded to begin ordering alcohol, and a large plate of desserts and fruit that made no sense for two people. After about 10 minutes I told her I needed to leave to meet some friends and she then said that was no problem I just needed to pay for the bill first. I then told her, the north American was that we each paid for what we ordered. She then begin flustered and said that in China the custom is for guys to pay on the first meeting.

I told her because it was the first meeting I wasn't going to lay for a bunch of food that I didn't order for someone I just met. She then tried to get me to at least pay for the drinks saying she would pay for all the desserts by herself.

In the end, I only paid my 20 rmb for my lemon water and then she asked me to leave. It was quite satisfying leaving and watching her pouting over having all the food and drinks left on the table unpaid for.

All these bars seem to be a front to scam customers so I would avoid spots that don't have proper reviews or have no online presence.

Long story short, if you encounter a girl who is pushy and adamant in similar circumstances, you should probably be wary. Stick by your guns and don't get ripped off! I've had some good experiences using dating apps here but still need to be wary as scammers are everywhere.

I'm trying to catch up with the situation in SH. I've been reading the last few pages and from what I understand you can still get a massage with extras if you find the shady places, but nothing special, or too expensive, did I get it right?

I first encountered it around 2004/2005 even before dating apps etc. Just walking on the Bund attractive girls would come talk to you and ask to go for coffee. My friend fell for it and I followed him. Same story like yours. Lost a couple hundred dollars and learned a lesson.

And, do not forget the fake pedestrian hit by car scam wherein someone runs and jumps on a car, lays on the road prostrate and then demands compensation.

A lot of this is going on in many countries in one form or another.

I said I could buy some drinks from a local store but she suggested a bar. I said okay but just one drink. We get to the bar and she orders a 80-90 rmb glass of wine while I got a 50-60 rmb beer. Then she says she's hungry so she orders a pizza. Then she ordered another glass of wine and after she finished that, she was about to order a third glass but I stopped her. I told her that was it, no more orders as it was time to leave. So the bill comes and it's about 400-450 rmb. I didn't argue, just paid and left. Needless to say, I didn't score that night! Hahaha! But lesson learned and haven't been scammed since!

Unless one's got the looks of an actor, being stingy and paranoid on your first date is the sure-fire way to not get laid.

(I'm not referencing anyone here BTW, just observations of guys I have personally seen).

[/QUOTE]I got hit by a similar scam from tinder girl. First meet she suggest a hot pot place a few minutes after we meet and I agreed. Proceeds to order all sorts of expensive stuff and alcohol. This was not a high class looking spot so I didn't really pay attention to prices. I thought it would be 1-2 k at most. When the bill came it was over 10k. I negotiated it down to half but still got ripped off badly.

If you find yourself in this position just call the cops. That’s what I regret not doing. It was my first date in China and I was caught unaware and didn’t know how to respond. I will just meet girls for coffee dates first meeting and if they insist on drinking I know it’s probably a scam.

But I guess the fact that I didn't score would confirm your point. LOL! Glad to say I haven't been scammed out of RMB like you guys mentioned.

While we're on the subject of scams, I thought I would try P4 P on TG again yesterday, but I wasn't so lucky this time. I found a profile that seemed legit, exchanged a few messages and arranged to go to her place in one hour. While I was on the way she asked me to transfer 200 RMB up front on WeChat, to confirm I was coming. I said that I only pay in cash and that there are too many scams involving WeChat payment. I posted a photo showing that I was only a couple of metro stops away. She replied and said that if I couldn't make the WeChat transfer, another monger was waiting and could make the upfront payment. I insisted that I only pay cash (by this point I was just round the corner from her place). She then said the other guy just paid the deposit and that she'll take him instead, so that was it.

Most likely a scam I would say, as I have heard of fake providers taking 200 rmb deposits and then disappearing. Remember that 200 rmb is still a fair amount of money to some in China in these less desirable economic times, and so to them it's worth the hustle.

Anyway no big deal, the only thing I lost out of this was about an hour of my time. There are still options on TG, but when you factor in the time and hassle it takes to find anything half decent, you wonder whether it's all worth it.

I never transfer money to any WG. That is indisputable proof of payment. When that famous pianist in China got busted for prostitution a while back, the cops checked his WeChat account and saw the payment to the WG and used that as part of their evidence.

Despite the fact that I'd spent time exchanging messages, arranging the visit, traveling there etc. There was no way I was transferring any money on WeChat. Case closed.
