In a month or two; like Berlin 1989/90
I have a friend (an American expat) who lives full time in Medellin. He has told me multiple times recently that the city is flooded with young girls from Venezuela who are working in the casas or offering their services through Facebook. It doesn't make sense to visit highly unstable Venezuela for mongering when you can visit stable Colombia and get the same pussy.
If democracy wins maybe Venezuela will have a stable currency and a somewhat normal situation, or like east Germany after the Berlin- wall fell, like a "Venezuelan summer" for some time. Maybe not super expensive anymore, but nor dangerous, more like Colombia / Medellin.
There are now very much Venezuelan girls on dating sites, but those who answer simply answer to try to get some cash from you, like (pestering) prepagos from Colombia or stressful Dominicans. But those who can go to Venezuela must do it when Maduro has fallen. It's like a paradise, just like Medellin.
This may all be true but.
1000's of people per day travel from the airport to Caracas without issue. It doesn't take luck. Despite what you may read and see on the news, business is being conducted in Venezuela. Trade, commerce, tourism happens everyday without incident. Clearly there are problems. Protests, food shortages for the poor, massive inflation, political issues to name a few but, far from a war zone. Protests and crime are confined to certain areas. You will not be kidnapped, robbed or shot traveling around Venezuela if you use basic common sense.
Political situations like this have a habit of deteriorating into fighting at lightning speed. It is not inconceivable that a tourist could be the target of an extra judicial killing; even more likely, the opposition may yet resort to serious violence. That being said, I would love to be in Caracas at this point consorting with the chicas. But, as an American, I could not enter Caracas without illegally entering the country. It is a bit difficult to get a visa right now.
Its hard to see how anyone could be worse than Chavas was, but Maduro has proven himself up to the task. Americans should take heed. Getting rid of Trump will bring us Mike Pence.
