Farewell Thailand Part 1 – Logistics
Welcome to Thailand!
Why Thailand again?
I returned to Thailand after a 10-year hiatus because I really missed the country, as well as playing Connect Four! Plus, I love the phrase, "Up to you."
History:
The US Navy introduced me to Thailand in 1978. That was when I started my long mongering career. Being on ships, it seemed we stopped in Thailand numerous times during my 10 deployments and I went there a few times while I was stationed in Japan. After I retired from the military, I returned to Thailand on a semi-regular basis.
I am not sure why it took me so much time to return, maybe it was because I was exploring Latin America and did not like the long flights to SEA. My last trip in SEA was in 2024 in the Philippines and that was after a 30-year hiatus. But for whatever reason this year, I felt nostalgic and had to return to Thailand.
My itinerary was:
Bangkok Two nights at Nana Hotel.
Pattaya Seven nights at Penthouse Hotel.

Travel Insurance:
The SquareMouth web-site gave me over 50 quotes from over 50 different companies. I chose International Medical Group (IMG). It was for 10-days and cost $260.00.
Money:
All the money I quote is in Thai Baht. During my stay, the exchange rate was around 32.00 to 1. I exchanged some US dollars in the airport and exchanged cash as needed thereafter.
Flight:
I flew round-trip with EVA Airlines. The service was excellent. The flight went from LAX to Taipei to Bangkok.
Immigration and Customs:
According to the Thailand immigration requirements: "Starting May 1, 2025, a new Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) must also be completed online before arrival. Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC): Mandatory for all foreign nationals entering Thailand completed online within 72 hours of arrival. ".

The card was for arrival purposes only; nothing was needed to exit. I filled out the information on-line and received the document shortly thereafter via my e-mail.
When I went through immigration, I was never asked to show the TDAC document.
Communication:
I have the T-Mobile Go5 GPlus55 plan; no worries whatsoever.
Electrical voltage: 220.
Transportation:
While in Bangkok, everywhere I went was within walking distance. In Pattaya, I used the motorbike taxis and Grab. It turned out, Grab was cheaper than the motorbikes. Maybe it was because I was paying the motorbikes 100 baht.
From Bangkok to Pattaya I used Mr. T. taxi service, the cost was 1400. Returning, I used Mr. T. from Pattaya to the airport and the cost was 1200.
Trip reports:
I plan to write a separate trip report for both cities. I had my trusty note pad and I am still trying to figure out my shorthand writing so I can post the correct information.
Overall thoughts on Thailand:
I was not sure what to expect after a 10-year hiatus. Yes, like all the other countries I visited, pinche covid did its toll; especially with pricing. The only thing that was similar were the girls; still playful as ever. I thought both cities were quite safe and I never felt threaten in any manner.
Would I ever return to Thailand? Nah, it was my second trip within 1-year across the pond my old ass is completely worn out! Overall, I had a great time! Would I recommend it to other mongers? Absolutely!

Farewell Thailand Part 2 – Bangkok
Welcome to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand!
This trip report will cover transportation, hotel, restaurants, and clubs / bars in Bangkok. For logistics and other notes, please refer to my trip report in the General Reports section, #14333.
Transportation:
While in Bangkok, everywhere I went was within walking distance.
Hotel:
I stayed at the Nana Hotel. Every time I stayed there in the past, I always hoped the hotel would do some sort of remodeling. But nooooo, it was still a crappy rundown place. The best part about the hotel was the location, location, and location. Was it lady friendly: YES. I think it was even goat friendly! There were no joiner fees.
Restaurants:
I was there for only two nights, so I only went to a couple:
8855 good (right across from Lolitas).
Monsoon very good.
Clubs / Bars:
In each club / bar, I asked several questions and did my best to write the answers on my trusty note pad. Thus, if I am wrong with any of my notes, feel free to chime in with the correct information.
Place: Candy.
Lady drink: 220.
Bar fine: 800.
Sex: The two ladies I talked to wanted 2000.
Number and quality: 12/ OK to good.
Day / time: Thursday /2.
Comments: This bar was right across from Nana Hotel. The majority of the ladies were older and really friendly. The ladies were asking from 1000 to 2000. After flying all night, it was a good place to relax.
Place: Wood Bar / Annie's.
Lady drink: 250.
Bar fine: Never asked.
Sex: 2000 for small room, 2500 for large room. BJ 800 (I think.).
Number and quality: 15/ OK to very good.
Day / time: Thursday /4.
Comments: Annie's was in one building and The Wood Bar was across the street. The ladies were presented in the Wood Bar. After I chose one, we went across the street and the rooms were in Annie's. I am not sure if rooms were available in the Wood Bar.
I had a great time there and I got an unexpected bonus. After I showed the picture of me in the fishbowl, they brought out Aey. When she saw and recognized me, she had a big smile on her face. We chatted about the past and how her daughter ran the place for several years. It was a nice moment I will never forget.
Place: Kasalong.
Lady drink: Never asked.
Bar fine: Never asked.

Comments: This place was pretty dated. It was clean, but a crappy looking place and the seating was not very comfortable. However, I did get a great BJ.

Comments: This was a smaller club and the place was packed; just finding a seat was a task. But still, I loved the place.
Place: Magic Table.

Comments: I found this place while doing a Google search. It was very close to Wood Bar. This place was nothing special, maybe because it was early; doubt it.

Comments: Fuck me to tears! This was a huge club with two stages packed with ladies. There was a separate area for topless ladies. This club is a must-see!
Place: Angel Witch Club.

Sex: I bar fined a beautiful lady and the cost was 2000.
Number and quality: 25+, good to hot.
Day / time: Friday / Midnight.
Comments: All the ladies were topless in this club. It was a smaller place and it had a lot of energy. They also had a couple of shows while I was there. I liked the club and recommend the place!
Overall thoughts on Bangkok:
I have always thought Bangkok was one of the wildest cities in the world. The city is huge and full of energy every-damn-day / night. It was a great 2-night romp! Having said that, I have no plans to return to Thailand; at least for now.

Bolt and Grab price increases
New government regulations will require those who provide those services to register their vehicle and show they have business insurance. This will raise the cost of operations for the two ride hailing services in Thailand.

My previous post quoting the price on Thai Gold was messed up. [B]My Bad![/B]. It's up actually over 1% since I last checked it. Not only are prices up, premiums are also. 1.6% premium on a 1/2 Baht gold bar.
Gold on the world market for both spot and futures have hit record prices. The market has rewarded those who bought even when others in this thread were advising against it when gold on the world market was at 3000/ USD Oz Spot. For the record I am looking at chart for gold futures on COMEX it is at 3586 flat.
