I am British Indian planning a trip to Pattya. Reading through the threds I understand that Indians may not be welcome in some go go bars or even discos. Although I can understand why that is bieng done, but it makes me apprehensive about my trip. I really would not want tyo spend my vacation with the vibe of being dicriminated against. That is what sounds logical. Thai business model is to raise prices in bad times to make up for loses. Thais raise prices in the low season the make up for the loss in customers. This is thai math. In the high season they get so used to making money all day they can easily be giving short times for 500-600 bait in Pattaya. Now you have to negotiate even 800 baut sometimes. They can afford to coem to Patts because it is close by. The same is not true for the US or Europe, as its is too far away and expensive for people in that same social bracket to get to LOS.
Japan and South Korea are closer -- but these countries really don't have the same class problems that our more liberal, capitalist economies produce (check their GINI coefficients). Plus their people, even the low class ones, are known for their modesty and decorum.
Russian and Chinese lower classes are also starting to come to LOS en mass and these countries will also develop the same bad rep that our poor Indian friends have.
Sorry I do not mean to offend anybody by this. Just a question of economics, social development and education. Educated upper and middle class Indians are some of the nicest and most tolerant and respectful people you will ever meet.

In India, it is fairly common to get packages / deals on Thailand trips, further, many businesses / small city chambers of commerce offer their members free trips to Thailand. While several of these men would have the cash to drop, by nature, they are so attuned to getting a bargain in their home jurisdiction, that they will make it a point to apply the same principles everywhere. I have read elsewhere that farangs have noticed groups (3 to 4 men at least) of Indian men negotiating with a single WG, now something like that is definitely going to create a bad impression. However, it is worth exploring why the systemic discrimination against Indians persists.
Our members from the India forum, as far as I know, are generous to the point of being financially imprudent whilst in LOS. They go out of their way and tip well (girls, stewards etc.), treat the girls with respect, however, the general impression hasn't changed. Hoping for a better tomorrow, I guess.

I still go because in the end, I still have more fun then I can in my own country.
