What we have here is a failure to communicate. Fon Tok is saying that 0.01% of the customers become husbands of Tulip girls. You are saying that 10-20% of the Tulip girls marry customers. You are both looking at opposite ends of the Tulip experience.

I thought my questions would suggest that marrying one of these girls is not such a great idea. One would want an extended try out period to ensure it was a good deal.
I will admit to having had an ex-WG GF (not Tulip). But don't think its a good idea any more unless she likes a lot of sex, is fabulous at it, but is very "jai yen". This could well be a contradictory set of requirements.

Financial independence and the ability to support one's family are equally as motivating for these women as finding a foreign husband. There are too many cultural and social obstacles that counter what you refer to as a "clear exchange."
I know what I hear and see. However much these young women in the sex business talk about their dreams of love, and make plans leading to marriage, the bottom line, as it is for most Thais, is primarily financial gain (and not just to support mama & papa).

And having more money than your neighbors have does raise your social status among your neighbors.
And marrying a breadwinner for the family is the way traditional marriages work all over the world. This isn't just some nefarious scheme thought up by devious Thai P4P ladies to relieve farangs of their money.
A satisfying marriage usually includes a lot more than just sex, at least it does for women. And there is nothing wrong with satisfying your wife like that. It's an exchange. Guys want sex a lot more. And women want social status more. And a good compromise is when they give to each other what they want.
