*Note: She left me blue-balled on my final night in Cali after slow dancing valleñato with me. The night ended with me using all of my limited charm to get her back to my hotel to no avail while her friend blew "W" behind the drawn curtain in his studio apt. In her defense it was our first date.

"Really. I guess she's got a thing for ugly bald dudes."

So I call up Claudia and she's happy to see me after work. We meet up for some drinks and dancing, and this time it's her who presses the issue of going back to the hotel. I get a call one evening from Mr. Heat Luver himself (a.k.a. Chino) inviting me out on a chiva: "We're meeting in front of Cali Plaza at about 10:00. Be there."

Well sure enough I was there. Chino was travelling with his usual entourage consisting of his novia (a sweet & sexy caleña - my hat's off to you bro), cuñado (brother-in-law, or in this case possible future brother-in-law), novia del cuñado, amigo del cuñado, cuñada, extended circle of friends and family of the novia, Ramon, assorted chicas, the aformentioned NYPD nutball, myself, my girl Claudia, my boy "W", his chica of the moment. Anyway, the chiva's packed with beer and booze, the music is blaring and off we go rolling down the streets of Cali on a journey of inebriation.

"Everything's taken care of", Chino informs me. Generous dude, Mr. Heat Luver. And a party animal to boot. We roll along for the first hour or two until the booze is depleted, then make a stop for more booze. "Dame 6 Club Colombias, 6 Costeñas, 6 Aguilas, 6 Heinekens.... " I hear the words tumble out of my mouth. We roll on, drinking, dancing, making out with our chicas. We come to a stop back where we started and the gang is going to Mi Cacharrito, a late night place for more partying.

I remember stopping in for one more drink and then making my way back to the hotel with Claudia. She had to be at work at 7:00 and we probably didn't even get back to the room until 3:00. We fucked, slept, fucked some more and then she left around 6:00. I don't know how she did it. I slept until at least noon.

Good time! And yes Chino, your girl is hot and she cooks great too. But with all that you're still a dog, just like me. I'd like to imagine though, that if I had a girl like yours I'd make a stab at being faithful....... well maybe a small stab..... Ahh, who am I kidding?

Sounds like you guys had mucho fun ... I doubt I could hang with you guys though ... I'm getting too old for all night party busses I think.

We did get shitfaced at a Vallenato concert one night though on a few bottles of the aguardiente ... mi novia and I.

Based on quite a few comments I've read in various threads and my own experience I started wondering if Cali is over fished at this point? The non pros just seem too stuck up. Is it possible that it's cuz I'm not spending enough time.

My experience in Cali is limited. But I do not feel that MDE or CTG are overfished especially if you can spend some time.

Many guys are saying that CTG has gone to hell. I have more puss than I can handle in CTG, but I live there about 7 months per year. All you need is a little Spanish and a friendly demeanor. Pesos help too.

The only thing i am wondering as I am here is why i havent been here sooner....the non pro action is alive and hopping...much better than Caracas and Medellin combined. Don´t fly cont. airlines...they lost about 10 peoples bags and it took them 5 days to return them to me. Other than that i´m having the time of my life.

Thanks to Gringo loco who hooked me up with his boy who lives in Cali i wasted no time picking non pro chicas. Alex and Omar own about 15 optical-body piercing joints in town and go to the malls (unicentro-chippichape) to hand out cards to EVERY hot girl they see and i slide right in after the initial contact has been made. They are typical latin dogs who just hound the shit out of a girl until we get their phone numbers. To come out of a mall with less than 5 digits is a failure.

My personal favorite non pro pickup spot is Tropical Cocktails on 6th ave and 25th street. We´ve picked up 3 sets of girls there in my 1 week here so far and the girl i met last night is clearly out of my league back home, and that is something i never say, so clearly this is where the trendiest hotties are. All girls here are of the South Beach-Soho type of fashionistas and the drinks here are expensive so if you come here come ready to spend. Typical 18-25 aged chicas and not particuarly impressed to meet gringos so bring game. This is a place GringoLoco has to come to. The 2 2nd dates i´ve set up here have both led to sex and the hottie i met last night i plan to go out with tomorrow. Doesn´t hurt that i live in the Terrazas de Granada building which is a lux and has the best view. A couple glasses of wine and its a done deal.

Wish you guys were here because the majority of the gringos here now are complete douche bags. All they do is complain about how Cali isnt Rio, how they dont want to pay the girls cab fare, how they dont want to share the bar tab because they are ¨my¨ girls, ect. These guys all they want to do is to bang 30000 cum buckets. Tacano is the word most often used to describe these people Colombia. Its no surprise Colombians think all Americans are so cheap.

The only pro i have been with is Camila who is the hottest girl the flower guy Mike has. ITs 130,000 hr. Some guy paid her 500,000 for 2hr. Dont be that guy!! Went with Oscar which is another one of GL´s guys and met the owner of Tienda Vieja which is THE sunday place. He knows every beautiful girl in town and I´m having lunch with him tomorrow. Great connection to have for sure. Oscar is also great for ¨fetching¨beautiful girls you see in the street or mall. If he says he has a beautiful girl he know, don´t trust him on that. WEll at least his and my tastes are quite different.

Glad you are enjoying Cali, but think about the effect of overhyping it (I speak from experience I am embarassed to say). 130K per hour for an indie is STILL over the market in Cali no matter how hot she is IMHO.

It's nothing particular about Cali, you just happen to have better contacts in that city. The same thing can be done anywhere in Colombia. If you visited Cali for a week without those contacts, you'd be back to square one.

Car bomb kills five in Colombia

The blast left a crater in the road and damaged nearby vehicles
A car bomb has exploded outside a police station in the Colombian city of Cali, killing at least five people. Four of the dead are police officers; the fifth is said to be the driver. No-one has admitted responsibility.

The attack comes three days before President Alvaro Uribe - known for his hard line against left-wing rebels - is due to be sworn in for a second term.

Colombia has seen decades of fighting among rebels, right-wing paramilitaries and state forces.

Friday's bomb reportedly exploded as the car passed in front of a police station in the El Vallado neighbourhood in the east of the city - Colombia's second largest.

The blast produced a column of smoke which rose above Cali, the Associated Press news agency reported.

Several people injured in the blast - including four police officers - were taken to hospital, Efe news agency reported.

El Valle state Governor Angelino Garzon told a local radio station he blamed leftist rebel group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc) for the "terrorist" attack.

Let's not forget that Colombia is not The DR or Costa Rica. Intractable, long term problems do exist. Violence, crime, panhandlers and filfth are all part of the experience, especially in Cali. Sure, we can go down and monger for a few weeks and most likely not get shot or kidnapped by the FARC. The greatest annoyance will no doubt be the everpresent overeager panhandlers. A few coins and they're on their way. But one must be alert at all times. Don't get hammered and stagger home alone. Don't accept everything at face value. Keep alert.

Between Cali and Medellin, Medellin hands down is the way nicer city. It's cleaner, better organized, more modern with a state of the art 10 year old metro system. Not to say that Medellin is problem free. Just like Cali, there are high and low end barrios. The pay for play scene is better developed in Medellin. In Cali it's largely hit or miss. Despite Cali's shortcomings, I've now got some friends there and chicas that I can call when I roll into town. That's a huge plus for me.

Cuba is actually my favorite hunting grounds for non-pro chicas. I've been there several times over the last 3 years. As long as you avoid the tourist centers of Havana, the pickings are unbelievably easy. Forget the 2 date rule (as is my experience in Colombia). It's 2 hours. But after playing cat and mouse with US Customs and dealing with the lack of infrastructure there, I've moved on.

In Cuba I feel invincible, like a rock star. There's almost no girl that I want that I won't get. In Colombia not so. I simply feel like a guy with an edge. Certainly not every chica that I hit on is going to give me her number. And just getting the number doesn't mean that I'll get in her pants. I've still got to work it. Set up the date, wine, dine, drink, dance, blah blah blah. Weed out the whackjobs and golddiggers in the process. Generally don't have too spend much money, but it's an investment of time and the opportunity cost of that time when I've only got two and half weeks of it. Just a guy with an edge. But I'll take that edge. Shit yeah.

I had some drinks one night with AntiFreeze and his lovely novia. He introduced me to the infamous Screwed Up (quite a character), who made some comparisons between Colombia and Peru. In Colombia, single women almost never go out alone but usually in groups of mixed company, guys and chicas, and in most clubs eveybody sits at tables as opposed to walking around. Hard to tell if they're alone or not without directly approaching the table, which might be a risky proposition. In Peru not so. Single women out alone and in groups of just chicas making their availability more obvious. And the two date rule need not always apply. He did say that the percentage of really hot girls is far greater in Colombia than in Peru, but we don't fuck percentages do we? It also narrows down the selection process. So, next stop: Cali or Lima?

I completely agree and that why I'm glad i did my hw and talked to the right people prior to coming down there. I think Calenas are easier to meet and get to know, and bed than Paisas. At least that is my experience.......i never gotten laid that easily in Medellin. And the dangers of Caracas just makes it too dangerous to hang out these days.

I was going to make this trip 2 weeks in Cali and 3 in Medellin but I like this place alot so I'm just gonna stay put.

Surfer, Sorry to have overhyped this place to everyone but in my opin i dont think this place is going to ever going to be completely overun by gringos. Alot of guys come with the attitude that if you buy a non pro 10 an ice cream she gonna bang, then get pissed out when it doesnt happen and complain how in Rio girls are all over them. Then they spend the rest of their trip in a hole in a wall casa. Well these guys go home angry and spreads the word to their friends how much Cali sucks. So the way i see it there will be less gringos here not more.

GL is right being American only gives an edge...you still have to work for it and no question, for ever phone number i get with these guys we get rejected about 5 times so its still work and a bit surprising at first but anyone that doesnt mind rejection will be sucessful here.

I've been visiting Cali and Medellin very regularly for years also ... except for a short time-out in Venezuela.

Venezuela is a different deal ... and has changed for the worse recently (political / crime / etc) ... can be discussed in that section.

As far as Cali vs Medellin for Gringos ... Medellin, as a whole, has Cali beat by a mile. As Gringo Loco and others have said before.

From the climate, to the cleanliness / organization of the city, the nice Metro system, the better PFP options, the Medellin Mansion and other clubs like it, the lighter skin, euro-looking Paisias that guys like, etc, etc.
Medellin wins hands-down.
Especially including the increased crime / danger in Cali as opposed to Medellin.

What Rob Hay is referring to is the difference in basic attitude / culture in Cali.
Don't get me wrong, Paisas, the people of Medellin, are very nice and courteous people in general.
Obviously the girls are beautiful too.

In Cali though, there is more of a happy-go-lucky attitude in general ... the Calenos and the Calenas (guys and girls).

I enjoy Cali for it's people ... but for a Gringo going on vacation to enjoy Colombia ... Cartagena for the guys that like the coast and mucho PFP ... and Medellin for the guys to enjoy a nice city, nice people with beautiful chicas and good PFP.
For first timers or guys that dig convenience, places like the Medellin Mansion are perfect.

I have been living in Peru for the last 7 months or so, and I am seriously considering moving to Medellin for extended period of time, perhaps a few years. I'm not so much interested in P4P scene, but I would like to know how the non-pro action is in Medellin. I'm a gringo in my early 30's, my spanish is so so, but getting better everyday, Coming from Peru, where it is easy to hookup with non-pros anywhere you go, would it be that in Medellin as well. I've heard some stories where many have the colombian chicas are a bit snobbish, You seem like you know Colombia pretty well, whats your opinion on this? Thanks!
