Tinder still seems to be good. Lots of girls trying to quote in dollars now. I immediately tell them pesos.
And to rant about much of the recent bickering and to add to it. Anyone negotiating in dollars is a moron. It's amazing how may girls come right with 100,150 per hour. Many of these new guys have surely changed it. I've seen it first hand with a friend co worker in Bogota. We walk up to some girls on the street and they say cien, he replies dollars or pesos? I wanted to knock him out right there. I pulled him to the side and told him to stfu, don't say another word. Let me negotiate.

I know the general consensus is Cartagena is nothing like it used to be, but that's honestly most people's consensus about most places in the world so it is what it is at this point. I kind of want to go there for a quick little trip. I've heard obviously that the clock towers and no-goats it's not people who stand still. So where do people meet girls now? Are they just throughout the city walking around or are they in a certain spot instead of the clock tower now?

I took a later one and was stuck in the customs line for 90 minutes. I was used to taking the earliest Spirit flight from Lauderdale and siting at the front of the plane and being through in 5 minutes.
Of all the times I have entered Cartagena, the only time I have been questioned when putting my luggage in the scanner was when I had four phones with me. I explained one was for work, one was for personal use, and the others were for my gal and daughter and was let through. I think it might have been different if the phones were in packages and I was looking to resell them. Technically, you are only allowed in one phone or you have to pay customs taxes on the others. Thing is when you go through the area with the scanner, I rarely remember anyone being stopped for anything so you should be good.
I was hassled in Medelllin with so many stamps from Colombia on my passport. I have not any problem in Cartagena or Bogota. I was seeing a lot more SSSS markings on boarding passes when Trump first got into office. That is due to the USA not Colombia, and you get thoroughly searched going out if you have that SSSS. It is no big deal unless you are dumb enough to have contraband, and I have noticed fewer people are getting them lately.
I was at clock tower last night. I would say there were three women who may have been hookers. It is not like it was. The Four Seasons is opening up in March. Apparently, the inside has a mall area in addition to the hotel. A new park has opened up nearby filled with monkeys and sloths. I will be seeing that soon. The mayor is cleaning things up and I think anything in view of the Four Seasons likely will be made pristine, and the clock tower is pretty close. If the rooms in the Four Seasons are under $500 a night, I would be shocked.
Like with Mexico City, I think the push will be for things to go underground. The bars, escort services, and massage parlors should be where the action is to be found. The days of the street walkers in public touristy places seemed to be numbered except for possibly the beach.
Flight from Panama City landed in Cartagena around 8:30 am on Thursday. Took about a hour to get through customs. This leg of the trip included the 2 guys I was with in PC with 4 more friends arriving in Cartagena. We had 2 BnBs almost directly across from each other in Castillo Grande. Both guests friendly.
Day 1.
I was operating on the 40 minute nap I took flying from PC (see Panama forum) so I just wanted to grab a bite and lay down for a few. It was raining and early so I figured I wasn't missing anything. We finally make it to my room around 3/4 am. We hopped in the shower together. A lot of kissing and sucking in the shower. Dried off and went to the room where we did everything imaginable for the next 3-4 hours! Everything! She was amazing! The sun was up when we decided to take a smoke break and then ended up falling asleep. I woke up to her on the phone telling her friend about last night. Karol tells me my friends had already woke up and left to get breakfast. I told her I was going to catch up with them but I'd text her later. Day 2.
After I find the guys at breakfast we do some sight seeing in Getsemani and Old City. Grab some lunch and get ready to head to Hollywood Beach. Get to the beach around 3 pm and there's a few girls but not too many. We rent some chairs, umbrellas and a speaker and start ordering food and getting massages. Best trip of my life! It was the combination of the group I was with, the setting and the abundance of beautiful women. Never felt unsafe in any area. Lots of police presence in the tourist area. I was off by myself at night a lot. Not that I'm suggesting that. Our uber did get stopped at a checkpoint where they made us get out and searched us. I never felt unsafe with or around any of the girls. I left a couple of them in the room unattended with all my stuff laying around. Again, not suggesting. I make sure all the girls felt just as safe and comfortable with me as I expected to feel with them. I don't know what Cartagena used to be like as far as number of girls available. But from what I saw there is a lot of working girls there.
*Hollywood Beach / Playa Hollywood from 3 pm-6 pm is a must if you are looking for girls. There was close to if not more than 100 girls on the beach Friday & Saturday. And a good number of girls on Thursday & Sunday. All the girls on the beach want to make a few dollars early evening and then go home freshen up and end up in the walled city or the clubs later in the night. I consider this the top spot to meet girls.
*The Walled City / Old City / clock tower is still active or back active maybe depending who you ask. I think all the girls used to congregate right at the clock tower and stand around. That part is dead. But after about 10/11 pm if you walk past the clock tower and into the city, take a right on Carrera 7 you should start see girls walking around. The first couple of blocks away from the clock tower inside the city had girls walking every night. More on Friday and Saturday nights. The farther away you get from the clock tower after that second or third block the lights and the quality of women goes down. You'll know you've reached this area because there's no police and the girls are able to stand still and it's a little dark. I never went beyond that.
*Clubs / Bars have girls working them. I think some girls might work for the clubs / bars. Any of the "hip hop" bars will have working girls in them. Even if you don't like hip hop you can still get a few numbers.
*Massage parlors / Casas in the Walled city and Getsemani. There's a lot of them. The girls walk around in scrubs handing out advertisements. I didn't try any but they're there.
*Online as far as websites, I'm not familiar. But my Tinder had 60+ intro messages from girls and a lot more matches (probably close to 100). Didn't meet up with any Tinder contacts due to time. But I communicated with 10-15 beyond Tinder on WhatsApp making initial arrangements to meet in person.
*Heard there's a couple strip clubs. Never got a chance to check them out though.

Tips:
Book an early flight if possible. I landed 8:30 am and waited around 1 hour. Rest of the guys landed later in the day and waited 2+ hours.
Bring enough cash. I think the amount of times I used the ATM might have triggered the suspicious activity. That's even after notifying my bank that I'd be traveling internationally.
If you drink, buy all the liquor at the airport. It'll save you some money.
Most importantly.
They have something we want (kitty / fun) We have something they need (never forget that. Just like every street rapper in Cartagena says "you are the you are the boss".

Quick question, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you and do you speak much Spanish, dress up, etc. ? Were the girls all semi-pros? I ask as many long term mongers say that a girl has a rate and will charge an older guy the same as a young fit one. It's all about the $$ As a fit guy in his mid 40's, I find that I am never turned down, but do pay more than I did in my 30's (accounting for inflation) and no longer get freebies, hell the girls try to change the price in the morning 1/2 of the time LOL. I speak very little Spanish in my opinion but enough to break the ice and start and hold basic conversations. I understand better than I speak because I just don't practice speaking enough. I definitely wasn't "dressed up" but I do dress nice. Nothing flashy but I know how to put outfits together. I'm tall and well groomed. 4 of the girls I dealt with were semi pros for sure. The other 2, I'm not positive but they gave me the impression they were pros. The girls definitely give different rates to different guys. 2 of the guys on the trip with me got quoted different rates by the same girl. I assume basic attraction or connection would be a factor for some of the girls that will give different rates. The main one is called DeliAndroVIP and is owned by the owner of Delirium, Randy. Its 99% girls only and the working staff of Delirium. Yes they do share all sorts of information in there about gringos and even chicas too who behave badly. I've seen quite a few who were banded from the club because they did not encourage a gringo to spend money on overpriced bottles. This group is mostly locked and only Admins can post. They only unlock it so everyone can post when something happens like a gringo beats up a chica, gringo pays with fake money, a gringo has a private event and are looking for girls to attend like a boat trip or villa party, and they also post the table reservations in there of whose coming in the club that night. And yes, the gringos who do bad shit pictures and sometimes their ID is posted in the chat. So those who like to travel with their drivers license as ID the only make it easy for they to get their home address. This is one of the main reasons I leave that in the hotel safe and use my Passport card as ID when I travel.
The second group is called Andlis or something like that. This one is open and anyone can chat. Mostly its just chicas selling clothes, but its lots of gossip. Many things do mirror from the other chat into this chat though except reservations but there will be the gossip of girls behaving badly and gringos behaving badly posted in there. They love to gossip about girls who accept low offers and it can get ugly. They also use it to set standard baseline prices, and this is why most girls will quote the same price.
Chicas love the gossip and they send me screenshots of the chats all the time and for a long while I did have full access to both chats, learned allot, much of what I already knew such as never get girls from the clubs because they charge twice as much and do bother with going in the clubs in the first place.
2. Using your Debit Card is a big NO. Depending on the bank, unless you put a travel notice on it the bank will flag it once it hits too many transactions. Also you are giving them easy access to clone your card and take all the money out of your account. Debit Cards do not offer the same protection as Credit Cards. Credit cards are better I've never had an issue and even went a bit further. For example, I gave one of my credit cards to 2 of my regular chicas, these are not working girls, they have been freely using the card for 2 years, never once blocked even though I also use it state side. I've also added my main working girl to my Apple Card as family member, for anyone who want to do this it will not work if their iPhone is set up with Colombia as the region, they had to reset the phone and change it to United States, then I could add them as a family member and set spending limits, again never once blocked. To anyone reading this, my entire example of what I've done is a big NO, I do not recommend anyone to do it. Even if you trust them, it is a big risk giving them access to what essentially is unlimited money until the card maxes out. If you do it, do it at your own risk but do not get mad when they have that emergency and your card gets hit with the charges.
3. Cash is king. You are right about bringing it but you will hardly need it depending on activities. I usually travel with 5 k - 7 K and only exchange about 2 K and every time I return with more that half the Dollars and more than half the Pesos. I do everything with Apple Pay except if I go to Playa Hollywood or another beach. Most chicas I see are my regulars (Venezuelans) and they don't like to take cash at night because its risky for them its even gotten to the point where they will give me their pesos to send to them or they will come pick it up in the daytime. New girls however, I give them their pesos and they are on their way.
4. About the early flight, it is a good tip but only if your accommodation allows a super early check-in. Most AirBBs and hotels are 3 PM check in time.

Upon arrival, if you see something you want to take home with you, buy it immediately! There is a high chance upon departure it will not be in the outbound duty free store.

2. Debit card was flagged even with the travel notice. And I never swiped it to pay for anything only to withdraw money from the ATM. Lesson learned for me though. Crazy part is that's something I was aware of just but didn't expect to happen to me.

4. Yea I didn't mention we arranged an early check in with our BnB. One option that I've used on previous trips with early arrival flights is to check if you can just drop your luggage off prior to check in. Plan to do some exploring for the time between arriving and check-in. Better chance at that with a hotel over a BnB. Not too many options on beating that 2+ hour wait at customs. But arriving early seems to cut some time if doing so makes sense and you can make the arrangements.
I've been to DR but never SD. On any trip, I always set my mind to I'm going to have fun, experience something new / different, and interact with new people and learn something. The girls are just icing on the cake. But I always pre-game on Tinder before I land so if all else fails there's that. But I prefer face to face interactions.

Stupid mistakes, and what I've learned from them so others don't make those mistakes especially the beach scams.
3. I exchange my money upon arrival. I have the Uber stop in Getsemani and there are 2 money exchanges next to RD Disco Club. They usually give the best rates and don't ask for your passport. The other place I exchange at, if its last minute is the one next to Alquimico en El Centro.
Airport is always a ripoff. The only Airport exchange I've seen give a fair rate was in Bangkok.

[/QUOTE]I have had so many issues with ATMs that the only ones I use are Serviobanca. I have not had any issues with them. I think there is one at the airport, but you can find these ATMs at Carullas and the Olympic grocery store in Bocagrande attached to the Bocagrande mall. You can take out up to 2 million COP with them.
