been in pattaya for a few days now. it's definately my home away from home. rented a condo this trip as opposed to staying in a hotel.
for long stays a condo is definately the way to go.

If you are contemplating the latter option, why not take a hotel in central Bangkok and do a "farewell" tour of Nana and Soi Cowboy?

I booked a 4 am pick up from hotel with Meow's taxi service. 1200 baht. Driver was good and the trip took a little over 90 minutes. Arrived in plenty of time.
Arrived around 8 am at airport, BELLservice bus, very efficient 250 bt bus, then minibus at arrival to booked hotel: Basaya Beach Hotel.

But traffic is easy at night so getting to DMK will be a breeze. It shouldn't cost you more than a few hundred baht if you use the meter.

Khun Keak is the boss here and he runs a tight ship. I've used his service several times, including two or three departures in the middle of the night. The drivers have always been on time. Once I rode in a rather compact Toyota. (Whatever they call a Tercel or Corolla in Thailand.) It was fine for one person plus a month's luggage, but two would have been cramped. Every other trip was in a larger and more comfortable car or even a minivan. My favorite trip was with the roly-poly woman who had Glen Campbell's greatest hits blasting on the CD player.
