Remember O'Flanagan's Pub?
Guys,
Okay we all know the one about the Irishman who every Friday / Saturday evening would stop in Maurice O'Flanagans' Pub on Illustre St in Davao City. He would start the Evening by ordering up three (3) shots of Jameson's Irish Whiskey with three (3) Guinness backups (chasers to you Yanks).
Before he drank a single shot he did a little toast to 1st his brother Daniel in Dublin and then to his cousin Conor in Cork (southern sounty in Ireland). He would down the shots faster than you could say "for the love of Ireland" and swallow the backups like a man dying of thirst. He would repeat this "trifecta" over the course of the evening.
One night he comes in and orders only two (2) shots with two backups. The bartender, noticably concerned, inquires as to who passed away, Daniel or Conor. He gives a startled reply,"Why no one! Both are doing just fine, with the help of God." So the bartender asks the obvious question as to why only two shots of "J" and two guinness. He gets an irritated reply,"why can't you see Laddy, isn't it obvious to yah? I quit drinking".
"Over in Killarney many Years ago. My Mother sang a song to me in a tone so soft and low. Just a little ditty in her good old irish way. But I'd give the world if she could sing this song to me today.
Tour a lura lurah, tour a lura lai; tour a lura lurlah, Hush now don't you cry; Tour a lura lurah, tour a lurah lai; tour a lura lurah, it's an Irish Lullaby.
Actually it WAS my Irish Grandmother who sang this to me when I was Devinia and Conor's age. My Mother was not much for singing. God rest both their souls.
HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!
