Verizon is still on CDMA here in the USA. Everyone else worldwide uses GSM. The phone I bought in Indonesia isn't compatible with Verizon so I had to switch to AT&T where it will work. But you are right, I used the Verizon phone last year with a local sim card.

Been a long time since I've visited Jakarta, where I still find the value and logistics unmatched. While there is traffic, it is cheap and easy to use Grab, Bluebird, and now even the MRT. If I remember right from my days living in Atlanta, Verizon has an online backup option where they would store your contacts. Also, depending on your cellphone, both Apple and Android has backup option where you can recover through iCloud or Google Play-store.

Check to see if you can login from laptop or even you new Samsung phone. Once signed-in, It should automatically restore all contacts. Check your outlook contacts option as well. You should be able to get back all your contacts if you look into it. Let me know if you need any assistance with it.

[/QUOTE]I am used to local storage. My home computer has 6 hard drives in a RAID 5 array. Never had a data loss; even when a drive failed. So I've never tried any cloud options or off site backup.

So I am screwed with the data loss. "Expensive" lesson learned. My new phone is backed up to Google Cloud.

I read about your terrible experience with cell phone and lesson to learn at one point in our life. I always make sure few things before bringing girls to my room.

If she is hot enough, then I will entertain her and her friend, within reason. I choose the location (so we're not at a $$ restaurant) which helps set the expectations, and if she's truly there to fleece me, then I call it quits.
