Yes I have noticed this and commented on it previously. Many Philippine girls are following the example of the girls in Indonesia and Thailand. In those countries it is almost impossible to find a young non-lady boy who puts "18-80". I think this is a function of younger guys getting on DIA. If no younger guys were writing the girls, they wouldn't be so picky.

These better educated ones have now lowered their required upper age range, and it often stops at 40 or 45.

However, they certainly are specific about "no filipinos", and especially not young filipinos.

From what I am told, there are many young pinoy guys on DIA hitting on the older women, so I guess there are some women who want that, and others who rather vehemently do not.

As has been said here many times, feel free to take no notice of what women say in their profiles and send them a message anyway even if your intentions do not match with their requirements. Well, it is not easy to find young fuckfriends if you are old in USA. There are plenty of young guys there for them. However once in a while you find some girl who likes older men. Oddly, when I'm at home, I don't go about sex the same way as when overseas. Here, I have a list of playmates in my phone. I rarely bust out looking for new blood. Ditto, Sarge. To me, it is the best place on earth! I am going to retire there in a few years but for now I just go 2X a year to scope it out. I think the greatest challenge for the male traveler in the PI is the fact that THE RULES HAVE CHANGED. Many times I've caught myself falling into old habits, seeing Filipina women through American eyes ("She's too good looking / young / thin / hot to ever take an interest in me.").

Arrived International airport and after reading the motivational platitudes at the airport toilet, walked over to domestic. Personally I think they should change the toilet slogans to something like 'Foreigners, Please leave your expectations here at the airport and collect on departure. When I read your post the first time I thought you had landed in Cebu since this is the Cebu thread. You never specified what city or airport you landed at. I was confused when you mentioned you were in Manila already 'pre-Christmas' and then you arrived International airport? When you posted you saw a girl waiting in the domestic terminal for a flight you lost me. I thought you had arrived in Cebu on an International flight and then walked over to the domestic arrivals since that's where the taxi line is located. Only after reading further did I figure out what the heck you just posted.

OK so when arriving at NAIA there are two airport washrooms, both located on either end of the customs and baggage claim level under the stairs on opposite sides of the terminal. I do not remember ever seeing any 'motivational platitudes' as you call it posted there. Maybe I missed something or maybe it was recently installed. What exactly does this sign say? Curious.

Cebu is not a city where the sex scene is in your face or on display 24-7. It's much more subtle at times and is more known for providing good online dating GFE company. You mentioned you made a handful of DIA contacts before your visit. Seems you never fully explored or put in the time necessary to come up with quality girls to meet. You must be willing to pick up alot of rocks before you can hold a true diamond in your hands.

I think your experience in other SEA Countries served you well when you visited the Philippines. You stayed calm and you went with the flow. I write this because I've seen an increase in meltdowns, people losing it over small things.

The most classic was an American guy screaming in a restaurant, 'it's called Fish and Chips! They're supposed to come together! Now this guy was screaming at a tiny little waitress and almost physically threatening her because his chips came a bit after the fish.

Anyhow, just an observation.

Back to the trip. I arrived and walked over to the domestic terminal. Immediately spotted extremely beautiful girl sitting by Davao flight, but she was hemmed in by other passengers.

Made mental note to visit Davao.

Had to reply unfortunately not, but he still suggested I should get to know his daughter, take her out a few times.

In all this time the girl had said about 3 words so decided against it.

Met a couple of other DIA girls, one a total mall hustler, another quite nice but not really me.

DIA is hit and miss. It's great if you've got time but if you're just in Cebu a few days its probably not the most productive use of time.

The mall hustler girls have got DIA figured. Someone should catalogue the categories or actually colour code the girls.

From the hard call mall pro who uses the mall daily as her office, maybe whacking several guys a day, through to irregular mall girl who just uses it occasionally to meet guys for bill payments then my favourite category the girl who doesn't know she's a 'mall girl' and just needs a bit of charm.

Most girls will ask for money at some point. If she doesn't ask I would still give her something but at the end of the day I think sometimes we are too nice to DIA's or mall pick ups. I realise that they are poor and all that and help will be appreciated but there is the argument that we are getting them use to money and in some ways we are pushing them to prostitution. Long time ago I brought a regular girl that worked in the department store in SM to LAC in malate. My next trip I found her in LAC, she ditched her job to because she figured she would make more money in LAC.

We did meet few more times but spent most of the time in the room enjoying each other.

After a few months I went back to LA cafe and there she was dressed up. She told me that she got laid off from her job etc and that is why she went to LA cafe to look for a foreigner BF. I wished her luck.

I did not see her after that in LA cafe. Maybe she got a sponsor.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I have been here in Makati for 1. 5 years but I was posted here because the Philippine office of our company was a basketcase. Now the customers are happy, the staff are happy and the business is profitable again, however, the cost is that I have worked extremely long hours during this time. This means I have work, mongering, some dive drips around Phil and sleep and not a lot else. Ex-pat consultants come from head office to visit once per month and I know a couple of local expats but I have not had time to spend time with them. Since the business is now doing well I have a 2012 objective to get a better balance.

To use your words, I survive here but I don't thrive here.

I need to get some out of work things to do preferrably with ex-pats. I have been working as an ex-pat for 13 years now around the world in 8 countries and generally I can get on-top of the job within 3-6 months but not here.

Snow Koala, I would argue that, having come to that realization, you're in a good position to retire, since you have rocognized that you will continue to need protracted, regular contact with foreigners who share similar intellectual interests. It's that perception, or should I say acting on that perception that enables me to survive and thrive here. The fact is that you can find a circle of similarly-minded friends, and once you've done that, you can preserve your brain, your sanity, and your sexual appetite. It's recognizing the limitations of the country, and figuring out how to live well within them, that enables RK, several others whom I know well and me to survive quite well and to enjoy our lives here. It depends on where you live and, to a certain extent on what you do with your time.
