That's an interesting suggestion. Back in '01 I rented a car to drive down to Pattaya and then on to Koh Chang. I enjoyed that trip a lot and was able to visit the dark side and other various places of interest around Pattaya with ease and in comfort.

When I returned to BKK I had an extra day on the rental, so I drove up to Ayutthaya and later that day I drove around BKK as far as the Chao Phraya. I found driving in BKK in a car to be a big pain in the ass and vowed to never do it again. 555. But I do think a bike rental might be a good idea for a resident like yourself who knows BKK well and especially for short drives up and down the Sukhumvit sois. (Did I spell soi plural correctly?) But I think I will hold off on the motorcycle rental until I take up residence.

Grab Bike, on the other hand, sounds like a really good idea. I will give them a try on my next visit.

You guys are braver than me. I wouldn't get on a bike in BKK under any circumstances. I used to rent bikes in Pattaya when I traveled with a wingman. It was always the highlight of our trip. But at the suggestion of guys on this forum (and enforcement tactics of Pattaya police) I stopped doing it.

I've owned a two scooters during my tenure. Ride about 1,000 kilometers a month. There are so many places to explore in BKK and it would be very hard to do without a motorbike. The best little hole in the wall restaurants are not in the Sukhumvit area for one thing! Is it dangerous? Absolutely, I have been down a couple of times and broke my hand when a taxi driver opened his door as I was driving by. But traffic is getting worse and spending hours in a car is not an option for me.

Why don't you rent a motorbike and drive yourself? I put about 1 k kilos a month on my bike driving around BKK. BTW, Grab Bike is great in BKK.

I was in Bangkok this year during Makha Bucha. From a practical standpoint (based on the above) I would plan on the following:

Bars will open a little early on Saturday night, and close at midnight.

Bars will be closed all day and night on Sunday.

Back to normal on Monday.

I prefer Chit Lom over the other parts of Sukhumvit as well but I'm too cheap to stay there.

Have you considered AirBnB? There are some really great options available for very reasonable prices. You might argue that AirBnB does not come with regular room service, but usually if you tell the owner / manager of the AirBnB or even the security guard downstairs, they will arrange for a maid to come and clean up the room everyday, if you want that. Towels can be arranged to be changed every day too. Sure, there will be no breakfast included but in Bangkok, who needs that. The sheer plethora of fantastic cafes, all minutes away from nearly every location makes that totally redundant.

There was a King's Castle 3 that was closed several years ago. King's Corner 2 looks like to be a ladyboy bar with many post-op's, not sure about the percentage.

Nope, I would not claim that most are lookers or that anyone of them would say yes to BBFS when asked up front. Quite the contrary for looks in most instances now. Back in the day there were quite a few lookers at Mango and Snow. Not at the present time. Nadear, who started her career working at Tulip and has now owned two shops herself, the defunct Victoria and now Cherry, told me it is very difficult to find good looking gals who are willing to provide a true PSE. I would imagine that is the case considering how much more conservative Asia and Thailand are at the present. The Asian punter does not demand PSE or GFE and seems to be satisfied with a ride with a pretty face.

For me BBFS is not a requirement, but a gal with a filthy mind who has really honed her craft is. A gal who is going to look you in the eye and says she can't wait to shove her tongue up your a$$ or wants to taste your c&m. King's Castle 1 and King's Castle 2, both on Patpong 1 Road, do designate their number on the signage. There is no King's Castle 3 as far as I can recall.

King's Corner is also on Patpong 1 Road, a short walk past King's Castle 2. The night I was there recently I would say it was as mixed gender LB and genuine female percentage-wise as Sucker's Go-Go Bar (is it called Lollipop again now?), the first go-go bar on the left as you enter Nana Plaza. Also about as much as Enter Go-Go Bar on the third level of Nana Plaza was a few nights ago. My impression was King's Corner is even bigger than King's Castle 1. In terms of square meters or square footage, King's Corner is probably the biggest go-go bar on either Patpong 1 or 2 Road.

King's Corner 2 is near King's Corner on a small sub soi between Patpong 1 Road and Patpong 2 Road, a little closer to Patpong 2 Road I think. I did not walk past that bar when I was in the area last time. As far as I know, it is not a mixed gender bar, it is 100% LB.

For guys who are adventurous like I am and have time in Patpong, check out some of those bars upstairs from Star of Light. Yes the girls are usually older and only 3 or 4 girls per bar but they're free to check out. Found an amazing young Vietnamese girl there last year. Clearly working in a secluded bar because she is not allowed to work in Thailand.

I have no idea about CIP as I prefer to "come on" not "come in. " And you are correct, it is not discussed up front, but even though I am pretty much condom 100% for intercourse both vag and a+, I always like to see if the gal is up for BBFS.
