Posts: 1194I've never been there, but I read reviews on various sites. Most reviews are very bad. Watered down drinks and padded tabs. Appears the waitresses try to get the customers to buy shots for them. 25 mil per shot. IMO, the waitresses are not attractive in the photos on the internet. Several reviewers said they were charged for drinks they didn't order. Customers were told the tab must be over 500 mil to pay with a credit card. Sounds like a place to avoid.

Posts: 4832Nah, you are reading it wrong. Colombians are friendly people and they will talk to strangers more often than other people. When it actually comes to showing up, they at first often get cold feet, but that is the same everywhere. When I am arranging meets, if the woman does not text and confirm that day, I assume they will no-show. It is always a good idea to have a backup plan for no shows.

The reason Colombia has not done well economically despite its abundant resources is not the work ethic of its people. Last night, I video chatted with my gal, and her daughter was doing home work. She is a teenager, and she was exhausted. She goes to school all day and does 3 hours of homework night after night. Her studies are just as demanding as mine were at that age.
Colombia is poor because the government corruption is horrific. Those officials just steal the country blind.

I'm case it's useful. Here's a map from the forosprepagos forum of places to go to in Medellin, it's pretty detailed and mostly legible even if your Spanish is poor. https://goo.gl/maps/SpRCnsHFLumHWvCt9.

Has anyone been to Chica Boom sports bar? I've searched the thread and can't find anything. But their posts have started showing up on my FB thread. Kinda reminded me of the thailand bar photos that would appear on my thread a few years ago, which got me interested. Just curious if anyone has any positive or negative thoughts.

Posts: 4832I am not sure it was the BF angle. I met a Mexican girl from seeking in Mexico City, and it was one of the best sexual nights of my life, I was looking forward to seeing her again. I came back and was there four days. I was looking forward to meeting her, but I got cancellations from her on days 1 and day 2. She was doing the Lucy thing of pulling back the football at the last minute and on day 3, I was done.

She texted me later and said, "I am sorry this weekend did not end up like either of us wanted." I did not respond. I wanted to text, "Woman, you got exactly what you wanted. I flew in here and we were on your crazy ass schedule the whole time. Who the fuck do you think you are jerking me around like this?" but I texted nothing. I look at sugaring as an investment and my time is more valuable than money. If I invest my time in you, and you cannot show up, I am out. I can make more money. I cannot make more time.
Now I realize that I was being shit tested, and I think you were too. "Is he going to love me and care about me no matter how I behave? Because I want a man who is going to stand by me on my worst days. " They are sabotaging a relationship before it begins because they know they are going to fuck up in the future. These women want a simp or a guy who is going to discipline them when they are bad and they can claim victim status. Whatever the reason, I am out.
The women who respect my time and money always got the most of both out of me, but it is amazing how few women get that.

Posts: 1643Time and the culture here in Medellin
The culture and especially the chicas here are living and breathing proof of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. That is, the rate at which time passes depends on your frame of reference. I am serious as a heart attack on this.
Furthermore, to assume that how the culture here in Medellin relates to time is somehow inferior to the way we use time in other parts of the world, especially and including the United States, would be a misstep in my opinion.
Bad for business? Perhaps, but I will not concede that point.
In fact, I could argue, but I won't at this "time" that the rest of the world should follow Medellin's example, instead of the other way around. This is one of the main reasons we say, "Medellin is Magic."
Some recent gratuitous fotos from the last 24 hours.

Posts: 18757I used to find Colombians pretty reliable as far as showing up. During this trip I have realized that has gone to total shit. And I am even talking about normal chicks that I already knew.

When I get there at noon her brother tells me she was just standing right where you are 1 minute ago. I have no idea where she went. I call and call and call and message while standing in the burning sun but no answer.
I go back to my place. She sends a message talking about she is at the bank right around the corner from where I am staying. I said I guess that means you are coming here when you leave there since I have already wasted 35 K and 2 hours going to your house. No answer until the next day. Looks like from now on I will be spending more time in Brazil where this kind of BS is not happening.

Posts: 37No shows, flaking, being late. Indicative of national efficiency levels
In the Bogota thread, I talk about 80% no shows rates for my Seeking dates. It took me a month in Bogota of regular, non-pro dating to realize that when a girl says.

After a month of pursuing normal pussy, (I banged 6 civvies in just over a month) I gave up. It just wasn't worth the bother. And I turned to the dark side of mongering. And I love it.
Having travelling to many different parts of the world, and lived on 3 continents, I am a firm believer that there is a strong correlation between how successful a country is, and how punctual it's general population are. People in the Western world value their and other people's time, so understand the need to be reliable and on time; developing countries on the other hand.

Appreciate it. Have had a little luck here. A ton off mileroticos in this area. Found a great Pizza place. But have been other places to pick up other chicks.

Posts: 1285In the past there has been discussion about how FB chicas and others are constantly late or do not show up. Some say that it is just part of the culture in Medellin while others have argued that this is not true. I found an article discussing Big Tech companies that had started offices in Medellin but then actually pulled out of Medellin and one of the major reasons that they gave was that even executives would either consistently be late to meetings or not show up at all. This article is long and the quote is pretty deep into the article.
PanTrek's Feldsott states, "Conducting business in Medellin became nearly impossible. Whether meeting with a top level executive or counterpart, I learned to expect the person would inevitably show up late or not at all. Things move extremely slowly, and it makes doing business nearly impossible. ".

Posts: 1643The Disco action on Avenida 70 doesn't start until around 10 PM
And you will see very few if any gringo's inside. Usually one or two of the discos will dominate and the others sometimes are near empty. Th, FR, and Sa nights are hopping. Cheaper to buy a bottle than individual drinks if you are buying more than four. The dominant discos fluctuate over weeks as the crowd grow bored and moves for a change. They play the music loud even by and. American standards. Girls go out in groups and are definitely fair game but don't take a monger's attitude that it is a slam dunk. If you don't know Spanish, it can be a challenge. For my first time, I would take a date or a wingman or try to go with or join a group of locals but of course I have no idea how you roll. Ostee Ouuuuut.

I don't analyze so much really, and like you, I treat people like people and with kindness, especially when deserved.
Keep doing your thing, I respect that as well. It appears to work well for you.
I take care of those that take care of me, especially when it's above and beyond, but not overboard or foolishly.
I talk to these girls, they know that I'm not a fool.
No respect lost.
Enjoy.

Posts: 590I totally agree. Classism is rampant. Over the many years, I have seen it often. Try taking a barrio girl to Poblado, even if she is dress nice (I. E. , not like a working girl). The upper class look down on the lower class and, in general, they look down on us because they make assumptions (which, in my case, are correct assumptions. That I am a monger).

Posts: 18757You have to know with who and when you can get away with what. You also have to know when to play the dumb foreigner. Situational awareness is what it is. Some people must have hard and fast rules to go by and others know how to enjoy the flexibility.

Posts: 1945I think you are both correct. There is a lot of racism and classism.

One crazy little tale is this. The uncle of my GF is white and lives in Miami. He provides an apartment for his mother (my GFs grandma) in Envigado. He will not allow my GFs sisters to live with their grandma in his apartment bcos they are coloured (same as his sister).
