Dominicans are known to be some self-hating people. Everybody in the world seems to know that they are black except for them LOL! Let them come up here, and I bet it won't take too long for them to "discover themselves" then. And yes, by the time we get to where we are in life, every man ought to know a woman's mantra: get it up, get it in, get it on, get it off, don't mess my hair up! Hahahahaha!

Posts: 18757LOL. In other words they make them earn that shit? You should have asked if these are the same Black men that are known to throw money in the air for no apparent reason at places like Anhvee and during the Superbowl weekend. Speaking of which: looks like more cheapy cheapy courtesy of the guys they love to hate will be coming soon.

Posts: 104One of my most memorable days was hanging out in Charamicos with one of the beach workers I befriended. His mom lives in a house across the street from the cockfighting ring. It pays to be open to experiences like that. I'll never forget it, and appreciate being welcomed in.

Posts: 920Okay, my condo is pretty nice, even luxurious by the standard of LOS Charmicos, which means mostly: food in the fridge, clean sheets, clean towels, hot water, nice couches and -- the view. I've dated three different girls I've met on Tinder. Point is, it's pretty comfy here and they like to sit on the couch after the deed, charge their phones and hang out during which time they will speak their minds, regarding their kids, their mothers -- and their clients. These Tinder women are maybe a step above the typical Pedro Clisante sw'ers and mostly have foreign clients (one was married for two years to a 80 yo american who died, leaving her nothing).

All these girls are "black" by California standards (although they don't think they are). Anyhow, I was shocked by the uniformity and vehemence of their response. I mean, they expressed some pretty strong, bad, racist feelings. Principle complaints seem to be (and I'm summarizing but in no particular order): they're cheap, cheat or underpay, think they deserve something for free, cum in their face, cum in their hair (!), are rough, grab their head and hair (during a blowjob), sneak the condom off, keep their socks on (imagine!), smell like cigars, get angry and try not to pay if they can't cum, etc, etc. By far the worst, and weirdest from their POV, is trying to cum in their hair ("...and Why? Why would they want to do that. Why? Imagine! In my hair!)
What did I learn from this? 1) The girls spend a lot of time on their hair 2) If you want them to like you, don't cum in their hair.

Posts: 920Sorry, that question has been moot for the last two weeks. I rented a crappy car for $300/ week. I've given up on driving into / through Cabarete -- nothin' there, basically a wide spot in the road. It was a whole lot better 25 thirty years ago. Every time I drive the two miles to town, I regret it. Sosua is definitely better for groceries, dinner, girls etc.

Posts: 321It is about $250 US from Sosua to SDQ. So I would assume about the same going the other way. You can probably google it though.

Posts: 920Obviously, I'm not staying there. I'm mostly saying that 1) it's way different that my stately home in coastal California, and 2) if tourists / mongers are interested in a completely different and authentic experience (which, I suppose, most aren't) then they should check it out. Sosua, although 10 X better than Cabarete as a town, is still full full of burnt up, burnt out, overweight foreigners -- none of that in LOS Charamicos.

Posts: 18757LOL. Really cool? Lively? You are surprised there are not more foreigners hanging out in the ghetto? Yeah. Ok. The people living there are not exactly there by choice.

Posts: 2449Like Cabarete, Charamicos is one of the many pleasant diversions from Sosua's downtown. It's home to a lot of the locals who work in the tourist business. It's a hodge podge of little houses and colmados, and a great place to hang out on a Sunday, with the locals and a cold beer, if you're tired of the hustle in Sosua.

Last year one of the expats here took 3 of us out in his old jeep for the day to show us some of his favorite "secret spots" outside Sosua. We started at the little bar down on Charamicos beach where the girl addresed me by name. No secrets in Sosua.
Then we took in some small towns, then up to a tranquilo spot that had a waterfall and pool full of fish. We swam (I waded) in the cold water, and a local guy came in and opened up a frig and a barbeque for a good lunch.
On the way back he said he would take us to his favorite local hang out spot for more cold beers. We were going back into Charamicos, and he was navigating his way all through the winding streets, all the way up to the cockfighting place and the little tienda next door.
Was he ever surprised when the locals, young and old folks alike, all came out to give me a hug.
Then when I got home, my Puerto Plata GF texted me, How was Charamocos?
No secrets in Sosua, LOL.

I'm actually in Cabarete, but I've been "dating" Tinder girls mostly from Sosua. I usually pick them up at some landmark like Playero Supermarket, drive them to my rental condo in Cabarete, then return them to their homes in Los Charamicos, which is actually a really cool, night time, outside, lively town -- little kids dancing in the streets, that kind of thing. I guess I'm surprised I haven't seen more foreigners hanging out there. Nothing fake about it. Once you get used to it, it's not impossible to navigate in a car, even with old man reflexes and vision.
(I've driven in many countries and, to repeat the obvious, I wouldn't rate Dominicans highly on the careful driving scale. Especially on the weekends, drunken people leaving the beach, weaving, hurling empties out the window. I tried to explain the english phrase, "drunk douchebag" to my date).

Posts: 2527May I also add that I notice Colombian women in there overall physical physique are more on the Eurocentric side. However they make up for it with plastic surgery in the general population. Now they have the body and the look!

In the DR chicas having plastic surgery is only common in casas and Sosua where there's a demand in the market. Other than that many Dominican are content with their genetic physical bodies. But that hair is another thing.
I remember one time a Hispanic woman said in a joke: "my grandmother is Colombian and my mother is Puerto Rican. Due to my father being born and from Santo Domingo; all her childhood life her mother and grandmother had been trying to straighten the Dominican part out of her hair".
